If both tests confirm there are no more sperm...
*** CONGRATULATIONS! YOU ARE NOW STERILE ***
Most places now just send you home with a couple of sample containers with instructions on how to fill em up (no lube, yes, spit counts) and drop them off at a testing center within ~30 mins.
About 2-4 weeks after the initial test, you will repeat the test again.
Make sure you keep using birth control if applicable until:
7. Testing. About 12 weeks AND 20-30 ejaculations after the procedure (how you get this is between you and your partner(s)), you will need to get your first test.
6. Followup Appt. About a week later, you will have a followup appt. If you are still having regular pain, lots of swelling, or don't think the site is healing well make sure you tell the doctor. Otherwise this will be a quick in and out.
** YOU ARE NOT YET STERILE **
5. Recover! I went back to work after 1d. Pain was minimal and only required a couple of Tylenol. If you have a more physical job, move around a lot, or lift heavy objects you will likely need to take more time! Don't hurt yourself.
No sex, masturbation, or adjacent activities for at least a week.
- Nurse returns, checks your gauze, and sends you home
- Get an ice pack and take the rest of the day easy
- Nurse comes in and preps you. Maybe a bit of shaving, some iodine, and some local anesthetic for numbing.
- Doc comes by, and in about 10 minutes does the snip and cauterize, and gives you a piece of gauze to hold. Does it hurt? no. Does it smell like burning ballsack? yes.
4. Snip Day!
This is the big day. It shouldn't take too long, I was in and out in 45 minutes.
- Bring a driver if you can
- Wear tight underwear (I like boxer briefs)
Your day will likely go something like this:
- Take off your pants, get on the table
If your doctor
- Tries to convince you to not have the procedure because you are too young, don't have enough kids, aren't married
- Tries to have your partner approve the procedure
** YOU HAVE A SHITTY DOCTOR AND YOU SHOULD GET A NEW ONE **
While those of us with dangly bits do not face nearly the same obstacles to permanent sterilization as those with uteruses, there are still a large number of doctors who will not perform vasectomies on everyone.
3. Ask questions, get information. Make sure you understand the procedure, the recovery time, and the followup requirements. Vasectomies are one of the most common outpatient procedures and generally consist of a consult, procedure, followup appt, and testing x2.
They will have doctor recommendations, programs to help defray the cost, and in some cases case do the procedure themselves. If you do not have access to these resources, try to find a local LGBTQ community center, they can help put you in touch with the right people and places.
2. Get a consult with a urologist. A lot of insurance policies will cover a vasectomy completely. You should not need a referral and you can schedule directly.
If you do not have insurance (or you have bad insurance), start at Planned Parenthood or a local sexual health clinic.
** VASECTOMIES ARE CONSIDERED PERMANENT STERILIZATION **
While it is true that there is a reversal procedure, it is expensive and results are not guaranteed. If you think you may want to use those sperm in the future, a vasectomy is probably not the correct option right now.
Getting a vasectomy is a relatively easy, safe, and inexpensive procedure.
Here is what to expect (based on my own experience)
1. Ensure that you want a vasectomy! This may seem obvious, but there is a lot of pop culture, movies, etc that treat vasectomies as a trivially reversible procedure.
if anyone's selling a Toorcamp ticket, let me know. I have several amazing friends who are looking!
Hey US Kindle users! The End of Everything: (Astrophysically Speaking) by @astrokatie.com is on sale for $1.99. It's a brilliant book and you now have no excuse for not buying it.
Anyone have a recommendation for a Nigerian Jollof Rice or Pepper Soup recipe?
There is a huge amount of variety in the recipies I am finding online and I don't have enough experience with the cuisine to tell which ones are good.
Ok, but for #2 I can convince them by using human comm....dammit...
For something different, I was recently introduced to vegan larb at a local Thai spot plantbasedonabudget.com/larb-salad/
It is really really good.
It sure does make your perf metrics look good though...
Unclear, I have to go to someone else to get that information. I suspect, given that it is intermixed with requests for /api/v1/clusters/kubeconfig/k8s its likely a bot looking for an exploit or misconfiguration.
Public internet. Service isn't even on a k8s cluster, so I assume its bots looking for some kind of exploit or misconfiguration.
Its coming from the public internet. No veeam, service isn't even on a k8s cluster.
I have a bunch of services that are receiving HTTP GET requests with a Host header of k8s.users-error-usersupgradestorageaccept-archivecorp.butler.veeam.com
Anyone know what this is about? cc @lookitup.baby because k8s security.
Its not causing any issues, just noise.
This is an even less credible take by Paramount as Netflix isnt buying most of the linear properties anyways.
This feels ominous. A computer is like " I know you've fuckin' got nipples here somewhere"
Whoever put a room called South Pacific in the North Conference Center at Mandalay Bay is probally very proud of themselves.
My library has a few but not all of them. I wonder if this is some libraries buying individual books as needed or if @nostarchpress.bsky.social has a program that libraries can use to get everything as it comes out.
