On Capitol Hill, survivors push for change as Congress confronts its own misconduct Advocates with RAINN urged lawmakers to fund critical support services and address the rapid rise of tech-enabled sexual abuse.

Policy experts and survivor advocates with RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence advocacy organization, came to lobby against online sexual abuse and found lawmakers wrestling with abuse within their own ranks.

Now, you might say, "What about all the knowledge we'd lose if we push all the abusive geniuses out of academia?!"

But I'd counter and say, "Well, what about the knowledge we've already lost from the budding scholars whose careers they've derailed with their abuse?"

No politician, no academic, no movement organizer, no comedian-there is no role that the person is so irreplaceable that we must overlook sexual assault. Every one of them is replaceable. Good fucking riddance.

"The right’s characterization of higher education is a fiction. Students across the ideological spectrum feel free to express themselves, think their education is worth the cost and don’t think their views are silenced." Only 3% of Republican students feel out of place on campus for their views.

Humanity did that. Science did that. Publicly-funded research did that. Excellent universities did that. Diversity did that. International cooperation did that.

Artemis II is a perfect example of what we can do at our best.

I'm a WNBA player. Don't use athletes like me to exclude trans women. IOC's policy invites unequal scrutiny. We cannot choose our genes or chromosomes, but we can choose whether we protect the dignity of every athlete.

Pros like Brianna Turner have made it abundantly clear what women athletes need — attacking and excluding trans and intersex athletes isn't on the list.

The idea that it would “distract” from a “focus” that has reached very few people to begin with is absurd. People need to reckon with the Dem party leadership’s overarching desire to protect the status quo at all costs, even when it ultimately costs us everything

Federal grants can save the lives of abuse victims. $200 million is sitting unspent. Changes made by the White House are preventing the distribution of funds meant to help survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and trafficking. This year’s grants are missing too.

NEW: Where is the money that's supposed to help survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking and trafficking? $200 million in FY2025 appropriations is missing. for @19thnews.org 19thnews.org/2026/04/doj-...

This line graph illustrates the percentage change in agency staff levels from the previous year for nine major U.S. federal scientific and health organizations between the fiscal years 2016 and 2025. The agencies tracked include the CDC, Department of Energy, EPA, FDA, NASA, NIH, NIST, NOAA, and NSF. For the majority of the timeline between 2016 and 2023, the agencies show relatively stable fluctuations, generally staying within a range of +5% to -5% change per year. However, there is a dramatic and uniform plummet starting in the 2024–25 period. Every agency depicted shows a sharp downward trajectory, with staffing losses ranging from approximately -15% to over -25%. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) shows the most significant decline, dropping to roughly -26%, while the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) shows the least severe but still substantial drop at approximately -15%.

This is the most astonishing graph of what the Trump regime has done to US science. They have destroyed the federal science workforce across the board. The negative impacts on Americans will be felt for generations, and the US might never be the same again.

The whole “false allegations ruin lives” narrative has always upset me so much because it is sexual violence that ruins far more lives, but people care far more about the 2 to 5 percent of false accusations than we do about the 1 in 4 women and the 1 in 6 children who experience sexual violence.

Gender studies courses are shutting down across the US. The Epstein files reveal why | Joan Wallach Scott Texas A&M University is the latest school to end women’s and gender studies programs and teaching race. We know why

Eliminating gender studies courses helps to ensure that universities and other institutions will continue to protect men who benefit from the abuse of women and girls, either directly or through their connections to those who exploit girls and women for profit.

And I've said this repeatedly about the intersection of abuse and sport, but there are few places in our society that encourage people to literally cheer and celebrate abusers. Sports often does. It is right now. And that will never not be hard for me.

During his first term, Trump’s version of “Title IX rights” was literally allowing rapists to remove their confessions from evidence in disciplinary proceedings.

It makes me sick to see the media describe this as an “interpretation of civil rights” instead of as a transparent violation of the law.

And THIS is why I said at least every captain needed to speak and be unified. Guess who is gonna get the hate from the Fox News crowd now? Sarah Gorden, that's who. The only Black captain. Okay, going back to work now.

Not gonna lie, I think every captain should be saying something on Sunday. It was an attack on the league and the sport. Just because it didn't involve your team directly doesn't mean it's not worth speaking on. It can't only be a problem when it directly affects you. It's too important.

NWSL’s lack of gender eligibility policy leaves players vulnerable – just not in the way you think An op-ed from Angel City midfielder Elizabeth Eddy called for "a clear standard" to address a problem that doesn't currently exist.
