The fuel protests in Ireland are a Trojan Horse that aim to bring fascism to Ireland. We are witnessing the birth of an Irish version MAGA. The more you look, the more obvious it is that many of the key spokesmen (and they are all men) are dangerous anti-immigrant far right agitators.Wake up.

Have your say by January 15 deadline.

In all our time in An Taisce, this is one of the biggest threats to environmental protection that we have ever faced. These proposed changes are clearly unlawful, undemocratic & unfair.

Financial barriers to environmental litigation are against the law, because protecting the environment is an important public interest.

The government now wants to make it super expensive (>€100,000) for ordinary people to go to court to protect the environment

New data centres may need additional electricity supply close to Ireland’s peak demand Expected new demand for data centres of 5.8GW would exceed Ireland’s 2030 offshore wind target of 5GW

I had to re-read this a few times because it is hard to believe.

Demand from proposed new data centres might be as high as 5.8GW, equivalent to *peak electricity demand for the entire country*.

I’ve written something on John Collison’s Op-Ed and environmental democracy

Species selected for maximum summer and winter forage for the birds based on food rather than copying native habitat.

Flax, crimson clover, red clover, chamomile/mayweed, cornflower.

Very large forage vetch pods, some flax and a mystery seed cluster I have yet to identify.

Adjacent to the fields thick native hedging provides smaller birds with a safe retreat from raptors (I observed birds of prey briefly scouting the fields on both visits).

Met a truly remarkable landowner 3 wks ago. Farm tour of hedges surrounding his fields dedicated to wild bird cover crops.

He was kind enough to let me return, collect seed and observe it more closely.

Surrounded by conventional farming many traditional farm birds flock to feed in the winter 1/2

National Parks in Glass Cases: Zed Nelson photographs the illusions at the heart of the Anthropocene - 1854 Photography Shot over six years across four continents, ‘The Anthropocene Illusion’ is a disturbing insight into a world in which the natural world is replaced by spectacle

“Just as we divorce ourselves from the natural world and destroy it, we do something extraordinary – we create staged-managed versions of the very thing that we’re losing. It offers us reassurance, a collective self-delusion, a mask to what we’re really doing”

The Enduring Fantasy of “Feeding the World” – Spectre Journal Members of the Agroecology Research-Action Collective argue against the productivist logic underlying the "feed-the-world" approaches to feed security.

The Orwellian myth at the heart of industrial agriculture?

That environmental destruction is actually conservation.

This must-read essay traces how productivism – the obsession with yield – fuels ecocide & colonialism, while failing to 'feed the world'.

"The last two years allow us to draw a painfully simple conclusion: Germany’s Staatsräson has become as detached from moral standards and the politics of remembrance as they can get. They no longer serve the critical realization of historical responsibility. On the contrary, they undermine it."
