Trump's dyslexia barbs stir anguish and anger, perpetuating a myth about the learning disability Some of the harshest words that President Donald Trump has used against a leading Democratic rival aren't about political differences but rather a learning disability.

"I don’t know that he remembers a time like I do when, whether you were a Democrat or a Republican or an independent, you could expect a higher standard from the president of the United States"

College me enjoyed time there, but I didn't have any intention of emigrating anywhere back then. Burned-out adult me thinks the whole thing with shutting down the town from noon to 3pm and all day Sunday so you can rest your ass is kind of great.

It's not just a couple of bad terms, though. Institutions, norms, relationships and other irreplaceable things that were built over decades or centuries are being dashed away on a daily basis by a handful of idiots and their psychopath boss. The checks and balances clearly weren't good enough.

US families contest Italian law restricting citizenship by descent in highest court Two U.S. families have gone to Italy's highest court to challenge a law limiting citizenship claims to Italian descendants removed by more than two generations.

Did not realize I was eligible for Italian citizenship up until a year ago. Would be kind of nice if they brought it back. My own country of nationality is self-destructing, so I might need a new home.

When I started reading manga I had zero imprint loyalty, and still basically don't. Just seems to end up that half of the stuff I get is 7S. The mix overlaps heavily with my escapism needs :)

You are talking about iOS26/Liquid Glass, I think? We have a couple of ipads and phones. I was so horrified when I saw it on one device, I refuse to update the others until they force it.

I have a Firefox extension that kills most animations/transitions. It was abandoned a few years ago and the signature expired, so you can't install it on vanilla Firefox anymore. I needed this so badly, I had to install Firefox developer edition, which allows unsigned extensions.

I want most of my user interfaces to have the spatial and temporal density of a Bloomberg Terminal... or airplane cockpit. Do not make me scroll through white space or wait for gratuitous animation.

The General Theory of Enshittification It isn’t a new phenomenon, but it seems to matter more

"a history in which firms start out offering great stuff at low prices but eventually offer worse stuff at high prices is the natural life cycle for any industry with strong network effects"

US bans new foreign-made consumer internet routers There are almost no major brands of internet routers that are manufactured in the US.

I read the early Doctorow posts/articles back when they came out. Made my neck sore from nodding along. Instantly recognized why I've had this growing sense of gnawing irritation with so much tech over the past two decades. I think most people do, but it helps to have someone put it into words.
