Remembering Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI, who died 3 years ago today.
He succeeded the late Pope John Paul II as pope in 2005, and resigned in 2013, becoming the first pope in 6 centuries to stand down.
May he rest in peace.

All over Ireland on this Christmas Eve night, people have lit candles in the windows of their homes. It is an Irish tradition, closely linked to the gospel story of the first Christmas.
There is a gentleness and a kindness about Catholic Ireland that I don't find in today’s secular Ireland.
