Hey, awesome!
Unrelated: why is this social media network absolutely awful to use today? Anyone have any ideas on why there was a major collapse, only to come back now, and painfully snail-paced?

This made me chortle too loudly, I think the sound reverberated in a way my chortle has not done here before π
Can't believe it took me this long to catch up with this zinger. My review of #SisterMidnight is now on @cinemaelite.com. Read here: cinemaelite.com/review/film/...
"That's not true... that's not tru- the FUCK are you talking about?" All-time hilarious clip. Perfection.

STEM, @visions-of-hope.bsky.social is a phenomenal video essayist on YouTube, and you should TOTALLY see his stuff.
Fun is when mediocre, didn't you know?
yeah I guess 2026 was always going to be the year I'd turn into a bitter misanthrope. thanks world. everybody sucks and I hate everyone.

OMG cannot wait for some honey to cutt to the bullshit to give us THE SAUCE
#TheSpirit, once again, might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is a world so masterfully built, and so unashamedly gonzo in its archetypal storytelling relative to the genres it riffs on, that for those who are able to buy into the worldbuilding, it's hard not to be thoroughly mesmerized.
Every player in this stage speaks with sincerity and seriousness, never once winking at the camera, wanting its viewers to both be immersed inβand laugh atβthe kind of pastiche of multiple genres it has aspired to be.
And then there are the archetypes of the Femme Fatale, the Disgruntled Old Detective Frustrated With the Roguish Hero, the Cartoonishly Evil Villain, and The One Silently in Love with the Protagonist, all flirting the line between the Connery/Moore era bond and 40s-50s crime thrillers.
It's also deeply, deeply funny without screaming at your face that it's funny. Stana Katic as the uncannily enthusiastic rookie cop is SO over-the-top, but she nails the theatrics and slays so much of her character like no other.
I'll fully admit that #TheSpirit is not an easy movie to like, much less enjoyβunless, that is, you are able to get on board with the rules of this world. If you're not, this movie will be absolutely painful to watch. But IF you do, you're going to have an absolute blast.
Every frame boasts dramatic flair, with vivid brushstrokes of chiaroscuro, borrowing its aesthetic from Miller and Robert Rodriguez's #SinCity without making it FEEL like the same movie.
Just watched Frank Miller's film adaptation of Will Eisner's #TheSpirit. Groovy remix of film noir, science fiction and comic-book superhero archetypes that functions flawlessly within the norms of its own custom-built world.
Some of those ads are just very weird poverty-porn shit that concerns me, like hey man why are you making these ads????
Oh and here's for being an asshole with my queer friends: take that hashtag off because CLEARLY you don't think trans rights are human rights when it only applies if it makes you look good.
Things people can learn from my back-and-forth with a certified insane person yesterday:
1. Unhinged comic nerds will ruin your life, project, and constantly move goalposts.
2. Comic accuracy ACTUALLY is everything and nothing at the same time.
3. You come for my friends, I will drag your asses.
omg he's such a babbie π₯Ή
Oh I denied them. You in turn hypothesized that I was stupid, a liar or a hypocrite. So fuck that, believe what you want.
Why yes!
Fuck yeah he is
jesus fucking christ
Some people would rather believe we're liars it seems.
What is wrong with you
