Dear colleagues,
We are looking for a PhD candidate! Project co-directed by Centre de Recherche en Neurosciences de Lyon and by the Laboratoire de Mécanique et d'Acoustique (Marseille). Fully funded by Fondation Pour l'Audition (see link).
Deadline April 30, 2026

How does the brain build a memory?
A common assumption is that the neurons activated during an experience collectively form the memory engram.
In our new Nature Neuroscience paper (finally out!), we show that this is not the case.

Main postdoc study out! We can redefine prefrontal cortex regions with single-unit activity! Grateful to @carlenlab.bsky.social and @weltgeischt.bsky.social who made this crazy project real. Thanks to all co-authors, collaborators, and reviewers.

🧠 Check out our new study!
Cécile Bridlance et al. reveal how distinct, local, and cell-type–specific sources of CSF-1 orchestrate microglial colonization during early brain development.
🙏🙏🙏 A big thank you to everyone involved!
Color-coded mean firing rate maps of place fields detected in the forth trials (left, sorted by the location of place fields peak) and back trials (right, sorted according to firing order in the forth trials) of all bidirectional cells recorded in the track with objects (top) or without objects (bottom). The color represents the intensity of the mean firing rate in a given bin normalized to the maximum mean firing rate (peak rate) in each direction. Note that in the CP condition, the mean firing map in one direction is the mirror image of the mean firing map in the other direction, indicating strong distance coding.
Happy to share our new paper with Mathilde Nordlund and Julie Koenig out @currentbiology.bsky.social. We used virtual reality in mice to study hippocampal distance coding. Our results suggest a primary contribution of grid cells to distance over cue-dependent place cell coding.

Our work looking into heterogeneous pyramidal neurons (PNs) in hippocampal CA3 is now online @cp-cellreports.bsky.social: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti... With a pile of multicellular recordings from mouse CA3, we characterised the recurrent network at the single cell level...
Happy to share our new paper by Aurélie Brécier*, Gaëlle Mailhos* and all, combining LFP and Miniscope to study L1 NDNF neurons diversity

Bravo Pierre !
New collaborative study out with Mark Wu’s group identifies a thalamic reuniens-zona incerta circuit as both responsive to induced sleep deprivation and essential for mediating recovery sleep. Further perspective on this work follows./1

Don't miss the opportunity to register at early-bird rate for a vibrant neuroscience program hosted by the french neuroscience society. 😍
