Using the media pocket for growth media, I like it

I have some bad news for you about how innovative most of the programming we do as part of our day to day jobs is.

*sigh*

It didn't always feel like this though. The nature of it changed at some point, and it was all very engineered. Interacting with each other was always the carrot, but they wanted us to interact more with brands, and consume more media. Now we're mostly just gnawing on the stick.

At least we got some good media out of that whole situation

Here's my solution, I just assume both. Just because they're talking into an earpiece does not absolve them.

I don't think they skip it - it's the whole point. THEY won't be there, they'll have been raptured, it's all the rest of us heathens who'll be left to burn in living hell, and that's very appealing to them.

honestly, pxebooting netinstalls should be the norm, it would simplify things so much if the experience was improved a bit

Loved this movie growing up, it was on tv constantly growing up in the LA area. I always wondered if it got as much play outside of that area, most of the time when I ask people about it they aren't familiar

The industry was never comfortable with the idea that software could be "done". But sometimes adding more things just makes it worse.

The infinite growth model we operate under in this industry is weird.

The website claims I failed to verify my ICANN email and that my registrar just needs to resend the email, but my registrar says that the domain has been placed on hold and that only cxDA (Christmas Island Domain Administration) has the ability to fix it, and they're ghosting me

The reason the site checkers disagree about whether it's up is that the domain seizure redirects to a page about ICANN verification failure, but that site is only hosted on http:// and not on https:// - so if you load doomscroll.cx you get content, but not if you load doomscroll.cx

Site's still down, Christmas Island NIC seized the domain and has been incommunicative. I'm working on some improvements to the site to make it clear to casual observers that we aren't violating anyone's copyrights and the site is legit before relaunching with a new domain.

Bugs the heck outta me too, especially for images. I went looking through the codebase at some point because I thought it would be an easy win, but I'm too stupid at React to make sense of it.

Hooray, my registrar has informed me that it is not them who seized the domain, Christmas Island did it. On Christmas. So now I have to ask them to fix it.

Guess they don't celebrate Christmas there 🤷‍♂️

When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.

Yeah I'm gonna have to do some sort of last minute bulk export to at least get some representative sample to keep using in JanusXR. Annoying, but it was always the most likely outcome anyway, kinda surprised they lasted as long as they did.
