I keep hearing that we are expecting an exponential growth in energy use due to AI like it's some phenomenon that we have no control over and it makes me so fucking angry. We don't have to do it!! We can choose not to do this and not to lose all we've gained in the clean energy transition! fuck!!

I'm not joking when I say mRNA technology is more important than "AI" and it's a tragedy we're throwing billions into one while our government is aggressively defunding the other.

Yeah, contrast that with what he said about the invasion of Iraq two decades ago

I was expecting the yanks to use a nuclear weapon. Relieved that they didn't. I was also late for work today.

A "tactical" nuke, without the ugly and rude macho gloating Trump is notorious for.

These materials are powering our future, so it’s crucial to keep them out of landfill and recycle them properly, creating a #circulareconomyIf you have old, spent batteries, most major retailers offer free battery recycling!#metallurgy #globalrecyclingday #batteries

I recorded a video about battery recycling, which the university's media people edited into a nice short video.

1/ Disruptions mean countries will rush to exit US-led oil order

Worst case scenario for oil companies (best for rest of us) is that people permanently shift...what they call “demand destruction“

i.e short term pain but Long: Iran war will accelerate ongoing STRUCTURAL shift to solar+EVs+batteries

Something that was actually studied in the 50s and found to be a terrible idea.

There were all kinds of wacky schemes for civil uses of nukes in the Cold War.

The USSR did successfully seal a leaking gas well with an underground nuclear explosion.

Just because you work in tech doesn't mean you're smart.

There's an existing port in Fujairah that is used to export some oil from the UAE, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz. Only a fraction of their total exports pass through there though.

Saudi Arabia also exports some of their oil via a pipeline across the desert to a port on the Red Sea.
