I believe an MacBook Air would be a bit more svelte and with 16 gb of memory certainly more capable (within limits of thermals) but for your purposes it sounds like a Neo would do fine.

If my MacBook air died and I just needed a laptop for "when my desktop is inaccessible" it would be an easy pick.

If a Chromebook or a similarly priced Windows laptop might do what you want, Neo is probably better. Solid for netflix/socials/email/documents. Not so good for creative apps but likely better than peers. Personally would use as a travel computer but not a daily driver. It's physically nice.
