Any government that isn't right now accelerating plans to transition to 100% clean, renewable energy is either:

a. Incompetent
b. In the pockets of people who'd rather they didn't
c. a & b

Gaps in policy, not just operational failings, are the problem with Covid test and trace | Institute for Government However much the government spends on test and trace, the cash cannot make up for gaps in policy

We still don't know how the £37 Billion?! was spent on test and trace. Dido Harding needs to be held to account to.

Just checking, it's now ok to flee your homeland, because you're afraid for your safety, and seek refuge in another Country?

Glad we've cleared that up. Let's hear no more about immigration and refugees then.

1. Interesting to see Reform abandon its flirtation with nativism / birth rate boosterism in favour of the policy of the last Tory government

2. “Starve a kid for a cheaper pint” is quite the policy. Be interested to see how that performed in focus groups (especially all male versus mixed).

Ok, let’s do this🙄

We’ll start with an explainer covering:

🕒What is a 15-minute city
🏫What on Earth is going on with Oxford
👽Where the conspiracy theories have come from

And then we’ll look at the Telegraph article

Less is More (More or Less)
While it may be hopelessly optimistic to think we can get an accurate estimate of how common oxymorons are these days, we can be almost certain
that in a world of fake news and alternative facts, it's a figure which isn't growing smaller.
And while some may be awfully good, critically acclaimed or have real potential, others are often clearly confused
or essentially useless, with pretty horrible results.
Even those which claim to be 'new and improved' are nearly always extremely average.
It's an open secret that some oxymorons are nothing more than meaningful nonsense.
My impartial advice would be to treat them with either reckless caution or utter silence.
And the same goes for tautologies, too, if past history is to be believed.

1. This short thread is about the issue that dominates almost every aspect of politics, and causes or exacerbates most of our problems: the extreme wealth of a small number of people. Here’s the amazing thing: almost the entire political class aligns with the ultra-rich against the rest. 🧵1/10

457 UK armed forces personnel died in Afghanistan during the 20-year deployment.
This is a fucking hideous thing to say. Even by his non-existent standards.

Cancer might evade immune defences by stealing mitochondria Hijacking the energy-producing organelles from immune cells seems to help tumours in mice to infiltrate lymph nodes.

New study suggests that metastatic cancer cells may evade the immune system by stealing mitochondria from immune cells and setting up a ‘shield’ that protects them from being killed by immune cells. Wiley little bastards.

West Midlands councils struggling to deliver bike safety training More than half of councils in the West Midlands are seeing a fall in the number of children taking part.

When parents are afraid to let their children cycle, that’s not “choice” - it’s policy failure.
Unsafe roads + patchy Bikeability = less independence, worse health, more car dependence.
Children deserve safe streets.

Let’s go back to 2010!

We didn’t need cancer pathways as urgent referrals were seen in 2-3 weeks, routine in 2-3 months

Recruitment was rising, jobs were good. It wasn’t perfect but in 4 decades of NHS work it was the best it had been

THEN SOMETHING HAPPENED ….
