Is there anything more beautiful than moss and fern together? :)

About an hour into the forest I wasn't lost exactly but hadn't really decided where I was going. I stopped by this swampy waterway to look around and take a break. I couldn't see anything to photograph but the light was beautiful, flickering as the clouds moved quickly overhead. These few branches shone compared to the dark water below so I took a few shots. Then I sat down, drank some coffee and listened to the whistling wind and the birds singing their sweet and desperate songs. I find days are always better if you can sit in the forest away from the madness. It quiets the mind.

In the dark forest, three's a charm.

Last week, I encountered THE biggest wild native Irish tree of my life: the Brian Boru Oak, once part of Galway and Clare's mighty Slieve Aughty rainforest.

Can you even imagine when this sort of magnificence was nothing special?

A rainy day at Glendalough in Co. Wicklow. A popular hiking spot with dozens of hikes that start or run through here. Also popular with tourists and locals alike for the two glacier lakes and the 6th century monastic ruins and graveyard.

In Ireland, this is what we call a soft day.
