So far the master key for getting dumped from Trump's Cabinet seems to involve being corrupt and incompetent AND being female. Since the first category describes everyone on his team, you need to be a woman to get the axe.

No depths to which Big Oil won't stoop in greed and shamelessness: their stooges in Congress introduce legislation to shield them from all liability for damages their climate pollution has caused.

Stunningly racist and uninformed.
Sadly, I think these views are representative of a large portion of the MAGA base.
Let's do this! "In recent polls, Democrats appear tied or ahead in four Republican-controlled seats" Maine, NC, Ohio & Alaska. "There are also signs that Republicans could be in danger in two more states where Mr. Trump won by double digits: Iowa and Texas." @natecohn.bsky.social @nytimes.com
In the short term, the Iran War is delivering massive windfall profits to Big Oil. But in the long term, this is likely to be recorded as a step change moment weakening the fossil fuel industry's domination of the global energy system.
"Financial markets ended last week on an upswing — apparently convinced that the worst of the crisis is over. That assumption looks complacent." @gideonrachman.bsky.social @financialtimes.com
We all have days like this
Good thing to remember as we start Earth Week with climate policy blocked in the U.S. and emissions continuing to mount: our history solving the hole in the Ozone layer shows rapid change is possible. medium.com/southern-win...
"Comfortable" is an interesting word choice in this context. "We're
feeling comfortable that the economy is basically screwed"
$30 million per hour. That's an estimate of the windfall profit oil and gas majors have been making since the Iran War sent petroleum prices skyrocketing. Time to move to alternatives?

Good conversation on the critical work of doing persuasion with rural voters with Todd Zimmer of Down Home North Carolina and @jenancona.bsky.social of @waytowinus.bsky.social. Lots of opportunities to connect the dots on the ways that corrupt elites are making lives more difficult and expensive.
Yet another example of outrageous corruption at the behest of and for the benefit of the fossil fuel industry. 4/
Trump's DOI justified the deal based a lawsuit they were planning to file; ignoring the fact that these challenges have been thrown out in court in 5 other cases. “DOI is essentially admitting: we were going to break the law and lose in court, so how about we pay you a billion dollars instead,” 3/
The money is going to reimburse TotalEnergies for oil and gas projects that they were already building, making it a complete windfall for the company. Total spent all the money $928 M, in less than 21 weeks on these projects, including a major LNG facility in Texas. 2/
Making my blood boil: details on Trump's sweetheart deal to pay nearly $1 Billion to French Oil and Gas giant Total in order to get them to not build offshore wind off North Carolina. This money is coming from taxpayers and will increase bills for ratepayers. @heatmap.news @emilypont.bsky.social 1/
Signing off for the night.
Be well
Preach, David, preach!
It's the opposite of his intention, but the Idiot Emperor is forcing the world off fossil fuels. This week's column.

Sure, the Iran War is costing taxpayers an ungodly amount of money (more than $54 billion to date, but think of how much the investors and executives at the oil companies and defense contracting firms are raking in.

Just back the truck up at Fort Knox and load up the gold bars
Same -- I saw that Susan has now retired. Pioneer in the space.
Since Alta Rock is listed as one of the founders, it looks like this is a successor company to that earlier venture. Interesting.
Great approach to getting the Peace Prize -- start wars and then claim credit for ending them!
Yep, definitely the frontrunners who are making huge money on insider tips. But there are lemmings moving billions or even trillions of dollars after the announcements every time. I guess it is the classic "bet on the herd" play, and if you are quick enough to get out, it works.
"Even as they debated the Obama plan’s possible burden on the power industry, in the entire chain of correspondence obtained by The Times, not a single justice, conservative or liberal, mentioned the dangers of a warming planet as one of the possible harms the court should consider." 2/
This decision normalized the practice of reviewing applications for emergency stays of lower court decisions, "swamping the court’s ordinary work." The "irreparable harm" caused by this practice may be to the Court's legitimacy. @jodikantor.bsky.social @adamliptak.bsky.social 3/
Remarkable reporting from @nytimes.com on how the Supreme Court first established the "shadow docket" to stop Obama's signature climate regulation. It should surprise no one that the conservative Justices focused only on what they saw as "irreparable harm" to coal companies, & not the environment 1/
Inspiring obituary for Pearl Fryar, the "Picasso of Plants". The son of a sharecropper and a Korean War Veteran, Pearl Fryar took up topiary after being told that he couldn't move into a white neighborhood in South Carolina because "Black people don't keep up their yards."
Letting the perfect be the enemy of the necessary. I strongly support community solar (and rooftop, and ...), but this kind of purism leaves the fossil fuel incumbents in place counting their money while the climate pollution continues to accumulate in the atmosphere
It still amazes me how the supposed geniuses in Wall Street, the City, and other major markets move billions of dollars on the ravings of this madman, after so many rug pulls
