Who can read DMs?

A diagram shows Alice sending a DM to Bob through Bluesky. Alice and Bob can read the DM. Bluesky can read the DM, but access is carefully controlled, including for moderators. Eve (an outsider) cant read the DMs

DMs on Bluesky will not be "end-to-end encrypted" until we are able to do some more protocol work.

We have very careful access controls within our systems.

If you're extremely privacy conscious, I'd recommend using Bluesky DMs to share your Signal accounts!

Instagram kept telling me to follow people, then saying that I’m not able to follow more. I know so many people who are Zucc’d in various ways for no apparent reason.

I can’t believe it’s gone on this long with this much abuse and lack of caring about the user experience…

... typical New York / NYT neoliberalism and yellow journalism. Why would anyone pay money for this (her Substack/Free Press? It just seems like an echo chamber designed to reinforce fears and the status quo. Not that I'd expect anything more from Bari.

My dear friend found out she has MS.

She's one of the kindest human beings I've ever met and really deserves your help. Any little bit helps! Please check out her Gofundme!

My discover feed is next-level random bliss and it's the antithesis of doomscrolling. Forced feeds and dead-end fixed-path algorithms have ruined social media - it's nice to finally have what we've been missing since the 2000s.

The Toxic Culture at Tesla The factory floors at America’s top seller of electric vehicles are rife with racial harassment, sexual abuse, and injuries on the job.

Tesla's factories are toxic. They're hotbeds of racism, sexual harassment, and safety hazards. I combed through more than 50 legal complaints, looked at government records, and spoke to workers to get a complete picture: www.thenation.com/article/soci...

Just a reminder that this is bluesky. Most feeds work chronologically and many feeds won't use an algorithm to serve you older posts. Go ahead and repost your Portfolio Day post a few times through the day to make sure people get a chance to see it 🙂

A digital illustration of a black and white cat surrounded by glowing goldfish. The cat is standing on a tree stump with saplings growing at the base. Trees are in the distance. The scene is set at night.

The lack of FDA standards means most food descriptions like pasture raised/cage free/etc. mean almost nothing. It feels great to make purchased based on animal welfare and sustainability.

I was able to buy Pete & Gerry's eggs for $5.50 on sale (which get 4 stars) at Whole Foods while a regional chain only has organic eggs that get 1-2 stars and they're up to over $10/dozen.

I love the Cornucopia Institute and their scorecards for organic dairy and meats!

They also have a lot of great info for finding companies that aren't owned by the 10 largest consolidated BigAg lobbyists (6/10 have been buying up smaller sustainable brands)

"In Silico" (2008) was in the Top 10 on what.cd iirc and that puts it up there with the best music of the late 2000s.

I treated it like an good anime or Star Wars cartoon and just enjoyed it for what it is! Found families (in space!) make for great stories.

fake sms from duolingo telling you, "Hi! It's Duo. Looks like you missed your Korean lesson. You know what happens now".
Then there's another fake SMS emergency alert that says, "Emergency Alert: BALLISTIC MISSILE THREAT INBOUND. SEEK IMMEDIATE SHELTER. THIS IS NOT A DRILL."

Duolingo feels... if you've ever used the app and had alerts turned on.

Yes, that's it.... It's always good to hear these stories from around the world, especially in places w/o native IPv4 - thanks for the feedback!

How long was your password? If you're using shorter passwords, maybe it just generated one that was found in a dump (not necessarily l/p combo). Just a thought! I use longer passwords unless a site limits me to less characters.

Also, I'd verify against other dump checking sites/programs!

I think one of several possible takeaways here is to discourage

a) binary artifacts in source repos

b) generated source in source repos

If it can't be inspected in a diff, it shouldn't be there.

I still feel like this level of obfuscation could/should be caught by secure CI practices (for OSS projects especially)

Github disabled the repo - please share w/me for R&D purposes if you cloned it. I'm curious how any existing tools or new tools can detect this.

Just curious - what's the experience like accessing IPv4-only resources from where you're at?
