I’d love to understand where this figure came from. I assume it was industry-produced or at least friendly…

NPR announces it has secured philanthropic gifts totaling more than $110 million -- including the largest by a living donor in NPR's history -- as a strategic investment in its future. This comes after Congress chose to eliminate federal funding for all public media. https://loom.ly/B71nWB8
Today in Maps Don't Make (enough) Money (by the measure of money perverts)
This woman is a handpicked Trump supporter from Arkansas and she is less anti-trans than the median Atlantic columnist
Trump: "Do you think that men should play in women's sports?"
Doordash driver: "I really don't have an opinion on that."
Trump: "You don't? I bet you do."
Doordash driver: "No, I'm here about…"
Trump: "Pizza."
Doordash driver: "No tax on tips."
Gotta pay to play, baby.
NEW: When Trump tried to overturn the 2020 election, the institutional guardrails of American democracy held.
But if faced with the same tests today, those barriers — and people who held the line — would largely be missing.

“'I’ve never experienced anything like this in my entire life,' the congresswoman said, fighting back tears.
"She described the way people were laying down inside as “like sardines.”
“'It is frightening in there,' she said. 'It is disgusting'..."

yes, this is a new fear of mine; I mean you could never stop people from making terrible mistakes, but now the sites look legit enough and it's less and less likely anyone took time to understand the data 😵💫
[feeling anxious] i bet i need more coffee
TIL: recent iOS updates are locking cops out of seized iPhones. For months now, forensic tools like Cellebrite haven’t been able to extract data from some of these devices
One workaround I’ve heard: police will subpoena jail phone systems to get defendants PINs…then try those codes on the phones
"Call it the great American nerd exodus, as scientists studying cancer, agriculture and weather prediction suddenly became the targets, or collateral damage, of political attacks." www.nytimes.com/2026/04/08/o...
This is my Tom Holland lipsyncs Rihanna. If I see it, I have to repost it.
A bit of a different take on the amazing Artemis II launch footage.
Here I stitched clips from the four Solar Array Wing Cameras to make this panoramic video.
This is during the later part of the Core Stage burn until MECO and stage separation, sped up to 10x. 🔭🧪 #Artemis
I haven't used it enough to recommend it, but there are three different brands that are all just this player, and they are (from what I can tell) the most common non-iPod platform for Rockbox: www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807...
The only real problem is Rockbox does not work with Bluetooth.
the probability that I would ever have been able to do this myself was close to zero -- I haven't written C in years, and frankly I don't _want_ to learn how this firmware works. It's neat!
Got a little mp3 player, installed Rockbox and used Claude to patch some of the code so it could write a theme that has a spectrum visualizer
More than 400,000 Arizonans have lost their SNAP benefits since July — the largest decline in the nation by a wide margin — as an underfunded state agency administered changes called for in President Donald Trump's so-called One Big Beautiful Bill Act. The drop represents nearly 47% of the state's participants in the program better known as food stamps and includes about 180,000 children, according to the Arizona Department of Economic Security, which administers the program.
Nearly half of Arizona’a SNAP participants have been booted off. www.propublica.org/article/ariz...

As part of Project Glasswing, the launch partners listed above will use Mythos Preview as part of their defensive security work; Anthropic will share what we learn so the whole industry can benefit. We have also extended access to a group of over 40 additional organizations that build or maintain critical software infrastructure so they can use the model to scan and secure both first-party and open-source systems. Anthropic is committing up to $100M in usage credits for Mythos Preview across these efforts, as well as $4M in direct donations to open-source security organizations.
Anthropic says it's only releasing its new model to cyber-defenders because it has already found zero-day exploits in every major operating system www.anthropic.com/glasswing

same Overton Window-shattering tactic he’s always used: Even if worst doesn’t happen tonight - rhetorically he’s opened up possibility of the unimaginable, making lesser (but still horrible) actions seem moderate by comparison… all increasing likelihood that one day the worst really will happen
NEW: Fifteen laws in 11 states that could immunize the fossil fuel industry from climate-related legal claims have either been passed or are being debated.
Many bills are part of a coordinated effort by groups linked to right-wing activist Leonard Leo.
make software like this again you cowards
NEW: I found IRS paperwork for several nonprofits whose addresses matched Border Patrol stations. Some of the groups, named after the military's "morale, welfare, and recreation" program, were selling challenge coins commemorating last year's enforcement surges: www.wired.com/story/us-bor...
In 2024, 40%+ of the nearly $2B raised by the largest Dem super PACs came from entities that did not disclose their donors — twice the rate of undisclosed donations to the largest GOP super PACs, per a @nytimes.com analysis.
@teddyschleifer.bsky.social & @datab.ae on Dems’ embrace of gray money.
