To be clear, North Americans say moose, but the animal is an elk. Early European settlers had not seen them as they were extinct in much of western Europe outside Scandinavia, & so adopted an Abnaki name. This was then adopted in Britain over the forgotten elk.

This looks like a Caucasian oak - Quercus macranthera or maybe Quercus cerris, Turkey oak - either way non-native & should not be planted I would say.

Why not do the obvious - plant the tree seeds! eg acorns, etc - they will establish much better.Also, put pioneer trees in first - like birch, then go back after they establish & plant more broad-leaf species.
