Wow, this Cato article is slanted! Relying of course on a magical marketplace of ideas that has never been real except in formal debate clubs and some areas of science.
But I do love the idea of tools that promote intellectual humility.

The US is currently about 31st in the developed world, in per-capita support of public media. Trump is going to change that to 33rd.

Geez, that's great, Mike, can you please offer us a concrete example?
No shit Trump's engaging in lawless activity! I hope Hawley will acknowledge that.
I favor legislation creating a public-private thing to get social media companies into line. Maybe like what @pmnapoli.bsky.social Phil Napoli proposed in his recent book.
I think what we need is a new Fairness Doctrine. Shutting down the FCC would be giving things a fresh start, actually. Keep Carr from persecuting news networks. Create a new agency when he's gone.
Here's the new Fairness Doctrine. (To be introduced in 2028.)

Not easy, protecting free speech...
I don't think it's sacrilege. And I'd like to see them stop their nonsense on social media. But do you think they should not vote?
Article today about Musk's longtermism, which explains why he targeted USAID. It's immoral to help the world's poor.

Is national political journalism much different?
Has driven the public into a long-term stupor.
Certainly "Uncivil Agreement". I also think "Ideology in America" is pretty foundational.
Chris Hayes?
Article link for the ad-refusal? Thx.
Our constitutional government wasn't designed to handle a Trump.
Predictable move. High-value target.
Disturbing:
The topic of this module originated in the Bust Open The Silos media reform proposal. But it’s designed to be fun. It not only addresses partisan media polarization, but also gives students insights into the phenomenon of polarized beliefs and rhetoric.

To educate students about media and polarization, new approaches that combine e-learning with gen-AI coaching will make a difference. Try out this demonstration:

So true. I used to pooh-pooh the idea of any return to a Sedition Act of 1918 as irrelevant. Here we are.
Can't imagine platforms willing to lift a finger these days, with Brendan Carr warning them to don't censor hate speech.
Something is needed, though. e.g. legislation.
(Unlikely during the next two years, but maybe when Trump's presidency falls apart...)

I couldn't agree more. What's missing, though, is a vision of how it could get better. This here could be an interesting prescription: www.allsides.com/blog/brawny-...

They’re going to run against all of it — that society and modernity and politics shouldn’t feel like this... I think that political space is weirdly open, but it seems very clear to me somebody is going to grab it..."

"And I don’t think there was anywhere near the level of disgust and concern and feeling that we were being corroded in our souls as there is now.
And I think that, at some point, you are going to see a candidate come up who is going to weaponize this feeling...
I've argued with my wife about this. I hope rich people won't get bailed out by the California government. Insurance in those areas should be super high.
It's kind of sad how easy it is for right-wing media to find audiences. No moral judgment, really... it's just that it's too easy for them. And maybe inevitable.
If only we could educate those pawns!
I am kind of surprised at what spineless poseur Zuck is. Such a vapid soul. But that's the lot of us in this age, eh?
Actually, sorry, this one is even better.

Final installment (of my 10-article series on AllSides) !
I tried to put it into context given the re-election of Donald Trump and his newly appointed FCC head, Brendan Carr. Short version: Carr has some strange ideas, motivated by what he thinks Trump wants.
