The Roberto Clemente Bridge should become a linear park The Pittsburgh bridge’s real power comes out when it’s closed to automotive traffic. So why not make that permanent and create a new attraction, like Dallas and New York have done?

As the NFL Draft approaches, read about a vision one architect has for the Roberto Clemente Bridge connecting the North Shore to Downtown — close the bridge to traffic permanently and turn it into a linear park. buff.ly/H3uOYfR

Love the part where he says “don’t walk like this” and then demonstrates various ways that a small child might walk. Good to know children aren’t meant to cross the street

As a child, I loved the book Aha! Gotcha. It’s full of mathematical riddles and paradoxes but has a presentation that’s very accessible to children. It has a two column layout with cartoons that cover the basic concept and text that goes into more detail.

I once emailed customer service asking what the suggested bike route to the zoo was and the response was basically a shrug.

Passengers will enter all doors when PRT opens University Line next year When Pittsburgh Regional Transit finishes its University Line in 2027, it will change its boarding procedure to get the maximum benefit from the system...

Modern fare collection, who wouldn've thought? But seriously, this will speed up boarding substantially, making service faster and more dependable. And the "ambassadors" to help people understand the system when it first launches are a great touch.

That sidewalks are a public good is why they should be publicly maintained. We don’t ask folks to plow or fill potholes on the road in front of their house. Why do we expect them to clear and repair the sidewalk?

I like the new Pittsburgh airport terminal in general but this is a bad bus stop — furthest end of the curb, minimal shelter from wind, no good way to wait indoors and watch for the bus. Bus stops should be a part of the design, not an afterthought.

I95 Planning Study

Yeah. It’s a realigned 7th street between WW and Broad St. You have to go in to the absurd virtual meeting room and watch a video to see it though.

Here’s an actual image from a PennDOT proposal in south Philly where they want to put an interchange _above_ 95. Real Hot Wheels shit

Why are dems agreeing to any budget without transit? It just seems like we’re kicking the can two years down the road at which point it will once again be a crisis except with our transit agencies in an even worse place from having drawn from capital funds. Fight now while there’s breathing room

The pharmacist at the CVS I tried at said to check back in a day or two and they’d probably have caught up with the new rules.

Potentially GREAT news out of SPC’s Active Transportation Forum this morning. The redesign of the Squirrel Hill interchange COULD include protected bike/ped connections to both sides of the interchange and on to Greenfield and The Run. 1/2

Red Light Cameras – The Philadelphia Parking Authority. Park With Us.

I haven’t seen any reporting to that and it’s not a general limitation of red light cameras in PA. Philly has multiple red light cameras set up at intersections of state routes.

I would hope they’re not skipping state routes as a bunch of the high injury network is state routes. What PennDOT considers a “highway” is very different from an interstate highway. Forbes through CMU is a “multi-lane highway” and also on the high injury network.
