Man. I knew the Chavez-DeRemer stuff was bad, but I didnโt realize it was pimping young female staffers out to her husband and *dad* bad. (Iโm exaggerating, but only just.)

A lot of parents hamstring their children because they can afford to have them at home forever as little pets basically
I would argue it would always have become a reason that the US would surrender the Philippines
If I was trying to prove I wasnโt racist, I wouldnโt joke about deporting the only Black and Jewish party leaders.
multiverses can work as isolated alternates or one-shots, they are a terrible idea to introduce to a franchise because they come to dominate the franchise
Agreed
I used to call this Francification on Twitter
Lol
That is literally the only way I can remind myself
It's literally the lowest exemption in the entire country.
It's the shoes
I promise that I'm not an anti-tax person, but I do think Portland has to be realistic about the downsides of being such an outlier.
Oh also with the preschool for all one, the threshold for a married couple to pay it is **<2x** the single filer threshold, so there's actually a marriage penalty! For something meant to make having kids easier!
The homeless services one is Multnomah, Washington, and Clark County. The preschool one is only Multnomah County.
It is genuinely insane to me to not peg anything to inflation. Oregon didn't do that with its estate tax either. Starts at a million which in Portland is basically "any house not falling apart".
Not that Portland is a cakewalk tax-wise to start!
An interesting way to lose money in Portland is even if your wage keeps up with inflation, there are two tax thresholds that they didn't peg to inflation in Multnomah County, so if you're a decent earner, you will be slammed harder every year
Palantir are about six months away from ordering their employees to leave audio logs scattered around their offices
Uhhhh groceries?? ๐ i eat dandelions and the carrot slices that kids drop on the ground at the petting zoo, I don't know what YOU'RE doing
woW it's like u Made money
Uh??? Shoes??? Expensive?? I dip my feet in tar and pebbles after the construction site clears out for the night
I *did* get courthouse married but who fucking cares, it's not a flex. An expensive traditional wedding is wonderful and a good choice for a lot of people and it IS expensive.
If you mention that weddings are expensive on the Internet, 1000 people immediately come out of the woodwork and tell you that they filed at the orphan's court and then ate some stale potato chips out of a paper bag that had previously been ravaged by seagulls
American political system: You have two cows. The public wants to eat both, and if you charge them even a cent more than the last guy to do so, they will murder you.
IF YOU LIKE PIรA COLADAAAAS
I agree and I think that would be good and I think they should fund it a ton.
The correct way to understand this is that people will do basically anything but give up the ability to eat cow (and meat generally)
I agree, but they don't sound like big winners so that might be the best they have to work with
That said, the overall experience taught you to focus first on getting to know and understand your partner before seeking outside arrangements.
