Sharing that joy, teaching others to play, is just as important

Not quiet at the dawn of TTRPG gaming, but happy that this has been my hobby for longer than two thirds of my life!
My "40 Years a Gamer" series continues! I'm looking at Chris Achilleos, another artist who influenced my TTRPG prep. Before Pinterest, I used his 90s trading cards to visualize my homebrew world and show players at the table. 🎲🎨 #TTRPG #FantasyArt #GameMaster

Starting Recommendation Saturday! First up is Palanquin. It's a 32-page indie storytelling game for one-shots set in a rich, non-Eurocentric world. A perfect rules-light palate cleanser between your longer campaigns!

The cover of the Night City 2045 sourcebook for the Cyberpunk RED RPG, showing an AV in the foreground, flying over the neon-lit city, and taking aim at a police AV arcing across the city in the distance.
Now it can be told! They were putting a team together, so how could I say no to working a small job in Night City with some of the best in the business...? Check out "Night City 2045" now on DriveThruRPG!

My son and I hit Metro Comics early for Superman Day! Grabbed our free Superman & Supergirl issues. If you're around, stop by for the freebies and great trades.
TTRPG fans: I also spotted a Planet of the Apes RPG book on the shelves while there! #SupermanDay #TTRPG #MetroComics
My latest "40 Years a Gamer" post is up! I'm looking at artists who inspired my early TTRPG campaigns, starting with Mike Ploog. His 1994 trading cards and his work on Marvel's Weirdworld were massive influences on my homebrew prep! 🎲🎨 #TTRPG #MikePloog

What’s your favorite version of Superman to play or run in a TTRPG? Let me know! 🎲

This bundle of excellent Savage Worlds products, including the core rules, is a fundraiser for Aaron Acevedo, who is dealing with some health issues. If you're into Savage Worlds and are able to support him, this is a great opportunity.

I wrote a blog post at Stargazers World collecting my thoughts on the Sword & Sorcery and Sci-fi DC Comics series of the 70s, which I've been writing about recently.

New Kickstarter project! Kobold Press launched the campaign for their pirate-themed supplement for both D&D 5e and Tales of the Valiant. I'm a backer, check it out:

I wrote a blog post at Stargazer's World about the Torg comic I posted about a few days ago, just in case you missed it or want to read a slightly more detailed version.

Late-70s DC had wild sci-fi comics too! Recently discovered Starfire (a Barsoom-esque heroine) and Star Hunters. Creator David Michelinie wanted to link them with Claw the Unconquered in a massive cosmic battle. Absolute gold for my future Stars Without Number campaign! #TTRPG #DCComics
One of my sources for Cthulhu licensees is my own Chaosium Connections article. Thanks to discussions here, I now realize it misses two classic licensees: Steve Jackson in 1995 (CthulhuPunk) and Atlas Games in 1998 (Cults Across America).
It's been time for a v3 for a while but it's crowded!

DC's classic sword-and-sorcery character Stalker is perfect TTRPG inspiration! He sells his soul to become a warrior, then quests to win it back from a demon god. Epic art by Steve Ditko. Gives me massive Shadowdark vibes. I might just roll up a PC based on him! ⚔️🎲 #TTRPG #Shadowdark #DCComics
I fell down a DC sword & sorcery rabbit hole! Claw the Unconquered looks like a Conan clone, but the Catspaw Dynamics blog shared the map of his setting: "The Known World" (just like Mystara!). I'm a sucker for fantasy maps; now I need to read this for TTRPG prep!

In 1992, Malibu's Torg comic helped me finally visualize what a Possibility Wars campaign should look like at the table! Written by RPG legend Greg Gorden with gritty art by Sergio Cariello. I wish more TTRPG crossovers captured the actual feel of the game this well.
In 2002, I read a TTRPG bestiary for Fading Suns and bookmarked a villain named Yar Ghilzai, promising myself I'd use him someday. Yesterday, 24 years later, he finally hit the table in my Savage Worlds campaign! It feels amazing to hit GM milestones like this.
Have you heard the legend of Cooter McGee? They never did find the body of that murderous old moonshiner. Every time a hiker or a partying student goes missing on Owlshead Mountain, people say Cooter McGee did it. They laugh when they say it. But never too loudly.

I've collected all my recent posts about the comic books that inspired my TTRPG campaigns into one retrospective article! See how Elfquest, The Warlord, and more shaped my GMing over the last 40 years.

Thank you!
I'm planning a 2-part supers campaign. One part will be a pulp prequel in the 20s & '30s, and the other a modern-day continuation. I'm a fan of Savage Worlds, but I'm considering Tiny Supers for this one.
Any other simple, rules-light recommendations? I'm open to suggestions! #TTRPG
(RPG PDF Spotlight) Crypt of Death, Shadowdark Scenario by Raging Swan Press
Crypt of Death is a Shadowdark Gauntlet adventure for four to six 0-level characters set in the Duchy of Ashlar but easily adapted to virtually any GM’s campaign.
