You won't get me to defend Trumpism, that's for sure. But I do believe in Israel's right to exist and defend itself.

Which is ultimately the issue - Israel is there and. others don't want them there. Where one comes down on that affects how they view the whole thing.

The only democracy in the MENA region, where 20% of the citizens are Arab with full voting rights and representation in the Knesset. Where women and gays have rights. Where you can criticize the government.

Try doing that in Hamas-held land.

I'm not going to get into what would be an endless debate here about what Israel should or shouldn't have done. But I will point out Hezbollah and Hamas have attacked Israeli civilians for years. Literally thousands of missiles fired by Hamas. Their stated purpose is to destroy the country.

The US is acting to defend its “interests”. Whatever those are, they aren’t the same as survival.

Like them or not, Israel is surrounded by and consistently attacked by people who want its destruction. Whether or not people here agree and whether or not their tactics/strategies
