Hello from the Surprise City Council meeting where most of the crowd is here to speak out against the proposed ICE concentration camp and the council’s refusal to put the detention center on the agenda as an action item like they said they would.

Daily U-turns, whether the Strait of Hormuz is open or closed, are reckless.

Transit through the Strait must remain free of charge.

The EU has reached the political agreement to widen our sanctions regime to also target those responsible for breaches to freedom of navigation. (1/2)

Tr*mp says we would have won the Vietnam War if he'd been president. Such a pity he couldn't serve because of his bonespurs.

We owe each other a country where at least the things that two-thirds of Americans can agree on actually get done. When something is broken in this country, we have to do what it takes to fix it.

Thank you, Tulsa, for the warm welcome back - and for showing us what a better future looks like.

WARREN: That's not my question. Are you refusing to tell us if you have investments in vehicles set up by Jeffrey Epstein?

KEVIN WARSH: Those assets will be sold if I'm confirmed

There is no such thing as a free market. Either it is properly regulated or the corporate owners take control. Communism leads to the same results with the masters running business from government offices.

It is the corruption that causes the problems. The best argument against Free Marketeers and Communism is that both ignore the market place and the human beings caught in the middle of these two extreme systems.

Mixed economies work best. Proper regulation with functioning markets is necessary.

When Leftists tell me of the enslavement and suffering under Capitalism, I remind them of Communism's track record.

When Free Marketeers play this game, I remind them predecessor banks of most of today's Wall Street Banks took slaves as collateral and Lloyd's of London insured slave ships.

Vote Blue No Matter Who: Party Politics As Political Agency Politics is a collective enterprise aimed at controlling the state, and requires working together as co-partisans.

"In America today we have a party of ordinary governance and a personality cult party. Those are the two options we are now offered every general election, and it really is that simple." www.liberalcurrents.com/vote-blue-no...

Vote Blue No Matter Who: Party Politics as Political Agency Politics is a collective enterprise aimed at controlling the state, and requires working together as co-partisans.

"Every so often someone expresses their understandable frustration with the party of governance by threatening to withhold their vote in the general election.(. . .)But this is foolish at best, and it rests on a misunderstanding of what it even means to act as a party in politics."

Feel like it should be a bigger story that Howard Lutnick's firm (run by his kids) created a financial product to buy up tariff refund claims at a major discount, and will now be cashing in on the higher costs passed onto consumers.

I lived for a year near Sloss Furnaces about a decade ago. Went to a music festival there in the middle of summer. If you think 95F with 90% humidity is bad, you should try it when the earth is stuffed with old steel slag.

I made the mistake of googling "Moomin Cup" because I thought your new cup cute. That is a whole vibe. They have mugs you can only buy in Japan.

I want to be obsessed, but I'm a shitty collector. So I want just one to drink tea from while writing from a house I do not yet own in the PNW.

A chart showing unemployment from 1930 to 1945. The chart shows that Unemployment was at its highest level of 25% when FDR took office in 1933. It fell to 10% by the time the US entered WWII in 1941. And it fell to below 3% by the time FDR left office.

Why would The Economist print this hack?

Here is the unemployment rate during The Great Depression. Roosevelt took office in 1933 when unemployment hit its highest level of 25%. It fell to 10% by the time the US entered WWII in 1941. And it fell to below 3% by the time FDR left office.

My response at a candidates' forum last week to an opponent's suggestion that we can't impeach and remove Donald Trump but somehow instead can and should pass wonderful legislation (which I support!) that will keep him from abusing his power and wrecking our democracy ….

It would good to see Jake Tapper put the pressure on Elise Stefanik while she lied and said Trump did not call for Iranian genocide. She is a worthless liar.
