Yes Mr. Richards, talk nerdy to me 😍

I think Pascal doing equations on this chalkboard is my equivalent of Baywatch cast members running in slo-mo on the beach.

this #severance scene hits different now
.
pineapples are an interesting choice to include
.
they can be symbols of
- hospitality (like Milchicks baskets)
- rebellion/oppression especially in colonial settings
.
they’re also fruits with duality: hard, spiky, tough outside and soft, tender inside

okay so one of the best parts of this season of #severance is all the nonverbal micro expression stuff that *is off the charts* good. there’s a scene between helly and irv in the last episode where she does this thing that’s CRAZY SUBTLE and britt lower had to be talented as shit to pull it off.

Not that of this makes it okay. Just watching people (often men) ruin their, and others, lives over a sporting event instead of having friends/therapy/self-actualization is incredibly sad.

Thus ritualized aggression functions as social bonding. Rioting after sports events could also be seen as a form of group bonding, where destruction is a socially accepted outlet for emotions. It’s like a modern-day version of war celebrations, but instead of battle victories, it’s about a game.

Since many men aren’t socialized to express emotions in healthy ways, they lack the tools to process big feelings like disappointment, euphoria, or frustration. Instead of engaging in self-reflection or community bonding, these emotions explode outward in destruction. aka dysregulated emotions

This leads to parasocial relationships with teams – bc their social world is often limited, some men invest heavily in sports, treating them similar to surrogate families or communities. Teams’ success/failure becomes deeply personal, even though they have no real relationship with the athletes.

The social isolation issue – many men struggle with deep, meaningful friendships due to societal norms that discourage emotional vulnerability. This leads them to seek connection in other ways, like intense sports fandom. (different than playing the sport together)

There’s a lot to be said about the aftermath of the #superbowl, but one angle that I see when I watch footage is how this destructive behavior is another symptom of the male loneliness problem. Here’s why ⬇️

and so much of Lumens corp. branding is blue. blue and green are analogous on the color wheel which can sometimes make them harmonious or too contrasting and overwhelming. it’s a subtle way to continually play with the visual stressors in the show.

The set design for #Severance is so brilliant. One item that really sells this world, to me at least, is the green carpet in their workspace but not social spaces

at my company, our veterans resource group started a “hives for heroes” chapter. the program using beekeeping as a way to for veterans to mentor each other on successful transitions to civilian life.

no joke, we have beehives on the second floor of our office. it’s awesome

and now it’s on pause

Isabella Rossellini reacts to her first #Oscar nomination:

“When I was young I was always identified as the daughter of Ingrid Bergman and Roberto Rossellini. As l’ve gotten older, this doesn’t happen as frequently and I miss it especially today. I wish my parents were alive to celebrate with me

Emilia Pérez should not have this many #Oscar nominations but primarily, score and editing, are the least apt. 🥴

Every time I see someone with a “convicted felon 2024” shirt, I want to tap their shoulder and enthusiastically say, “I too am an abolitionist!” just to see what they say.

I made some Star Wars bros so mad that they had to resort to calling me “young lady” and “too young to know anything” which honestly, is so flattering for 2 reasons. 1) they think I’m young and 2) their only argument left was ad hominems 😂😂

👉 Complaints from the male gaze squad (the MC has a shaved head, likely because she’s a hunter)

&

👉 Complaints from the improvident, asking where Uncharted 5 or TLOU 3 is

I love those games, but let’s try new things, explore new stories, & fall in love with new characters. Nostalgic is a vice.

Naughty Dog just dropped a teaser trailer for their newest game, “Intergalactic”, and it’s looks really great! It’s only a teaser but it’s a gorgeous, sci-fi bounty hunter type story. And, per usual, the comments are filled with the most basic idiocy.
