There are good reasons to be angry with the gerontocracy that is the House Democrats but a gotcha photo of a member needing a walker after hip surgery doesn’t make that case.

Yes, Nancy Pelosi is old. She’s also not in the leadership anymore and she was actually there doing her job, walker and all.

IMPORTANT: If you’re turned away at the polls because your name is not on the register, don’t walk away.

Your response [verbatim] should be: “Give me a provisional ballot with a receipt, as required by law.”

Don’t let them steal your vote.

If you are turned away at the polls-
your verbatim response is: "Give me a provisional ballot with a receipt as required by law."
Pass it on.

abstention is not an option. refusing to make even the slightest concession toward keeping fascists out of power isn't a brave and lonely stand. it is the sin of scrupulosity, the overruling desire the keep oneself clean--and it has never yet delivered anyone from harm.

New probe confirms Trump officials blocked Puerto Rico from receiving hurricane aid The Trump administration also obstructed an investigation looking into why it was depriving the U.S. territory of congressionally approved funds, the report found.

Yes, you stupid libs, a comedian told a joke dismissing Puerto Rico as an "island of garbage," but that comment in no way reflects the attitudes of President Trump and his supporters who have always treated ... "

Fantastic, fiercely courageous piece, opening with a quotation from historian Timothy Snyder.

Also fitting that the Constitution was signed in Philadelphia. 👏👏👏

Opinion | It has fallen to me, the humor columnist, to endorse Harris for president Isn’t this what a newspaper is supposed to do?

“Embarrassingly enough, I like this country. But everything good about it has been the product of centuries of people who had no reason to hope for better but chose to believe that better things were possible… to build this fragile thing called democracy.” — Alexandra Petri in the Washington Post

Some people believe that not voting for Kamala will somehow punish Democratic leadership when it will actually punish abortion seekers, LGBTQ people, immigrants and their families, and, yes, anti-war activists

This was the obvious lesson that emerged from researching my book on concentration camps. Such a simple principle! Yet over and over some ruling party or leader manages to convince the public that no, THESE people are different and evil. And always for power, while the vulnerable pay the price.

"But in interviews with The Washington Post and in focus groups, many voters expressed subconscious bias and outright sexism, worrying that a female president will be too emotional, or that she will be weak and get rolled by male leaders on the world stage. Some even said they couldn’t imagine handing the nuclear codes to someone who they fear may become moody while menstruating. Democrats say the challenge for Harris is real but hard to quantify."

Opinion | The Walzes have been nearly perfect in talking about their neurodivergent son, Gus The Walzes’ words and their embrace of their son may seem utterly unremarkable. But that’s the point.

I like how most Tim Walz anecdotes are relatable dad stuff and then occasionally there’s something like “his students predicted the Rwandan genocide with GIS software”
