Trying to post some regular archaeological sites in #Derbyshire over on the Derbyshire Archaeological Society's Facebook page (www.facebook.com/groups/69721...). This site has captured my interest lately, so thought I'd share it here, too. Farnah Hall / Champion Park nr Duffield. #archaeology

🎄 Post deadlines may have passed, but you can still give a gift that lasts well beyond Christmas Day.

A CBA gift membership is delivered digitally, with a printable certificate, so there’s still something to put under the tree.

Totally agree. Integrity is our greatest asset in communicating archaeology - if we loose it we risk the very soul of what we do.

We’ve had a fantastic few days at TAG

Great conversations around this year’s theme theory in action, and lovely to meet so many people at our stand.

Huge well done to CBA’s Debbie Frearson for speaking today in “In theory it was a great idea” 👏

Thanks to everyone who stopped by.

New landmark research out today: We've just launched Trowel and Error, the most in-depth look in 25 years at how audiences want to engage with archaeology. The findings are clear: people want human, accessible, story-led archaeology.

An uncanny resemblance to the wonderful Jessie Mouthersole’s 1921 painting of Cruddy’s Crag. Appears in her 1922 book Hadrians Wall. I think it’s was Jessie’s paintings of the wall in her book that first established these iconic views. An amazing artist and archaeologist.

The name was devised by our Youth Advisory Board and Young Associate Network @archaeologyuk.bsky.social to help the survey have a wider reach. They did a cracking job to help propel us to over 3000 engagements across our different research methods. Pays to listen to young voices.

We are very sad to hear the news of Mike Corbishley's passing.

Mike was a long-time supporter of the CBA and co-founder of YAC. We’ll be celebrating Mike’s life and contributions in an upcoming issue of British Archaeology.

Here he is in 1986, celebrating the conclusion of a Wroxeter excavation

Why does the press always think we are baffled? What I don’t know in life far exceeds what I have learnt. The thirst for knowledge and new experiences/ideas/questions is key to what makes archaeology fascinating.

Jessica and Anna have been hidden behind the scenes all day keeping us connected and cross posting questions. We hope this has worked and we will continue to ensure our reach is as wide as possible but fragmentation of our world is making this difficult. 2/2

As we start our last 30 mins of #AskAnArchaeologist Day I want to give a big shoutout to two members of the CBA @archaeologyuk.bsky.social team, Jessica and Anna. This year we have expanded beyond X and tried to host AAADay over multiple platforms. 1/2
