It annoys me under most circumstances, but they clearly tried to bring in good representation of various Pacific cultures, so to fail to label the languages being used feels like a major fail.

Well, this is now one of my favorite Disney movies.
Welp…now kiddo and I are having a discussion about how people who act like monsters are often people who’ve been badly hurt themselves.
Woah! Te Fiti?! Did *not* see that coming!
Come on, Disney! Maui starts a Hakka, and the caption is “[SHOUTS IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE]”?!
Te Kā is legit terrifying!
Gramma! 💜😭💜
Wow. This is a tense scene.
“The ocean chose wrong.” Harsh!
Even the Ocean thinks Heihei is a liability. 🤣
Ah. How Maui got his groove back montage. Sweet!
I feel like we’d be chill together.
Tamatoa having a Bowie vibe is giving me life.
HOW DO MURDER COCONUTS HAVE CURARE DARTS?!
WTF are these murder coconuts?! 😮
SIDE NOTE: I’m a little angry that this is actually Dwayne Johnson singing, because he was already more talented than any one human should be.
“Not a guy-girl thing. Maui is a hero to all.”
OMG! This song is way better in context! 😂
Sigh…this is a major annoyance of mine when there are captions: “[SINGS IN FOREIGN LANGUAGE]”
Y’all spent all this effort on seemingly authentic representation of various Pacific cultures, and you can’t specify the language they’re singing in?
Okay! I’m back, and we’re at the scene in the cave where the truth is revealed!
WHY YOU GOTTA DO THIS TO ME WHEN I HAVE A TODDLER AND CAN'T PLAY WITH ANY REGULARITY?! 🤣
You actually did fantastically for a first-timer! 😁
I think I posted it about 2 minutes after this. 🙂
I hoped to finish before the Magic set released so we could play, but she died suddenly a few months before. When I open a pack, I think of her. I'm sad I can't call her to tell her how much I loved this, but I suppose that's one of the themes of the show: we carry the people we love with us always.
Took me long enough to finish, but I'm glad I did. I'm extremely emotional right now, not just at how well they carried that storyline, but for deeply personal reasons that come fresh to mind: I started #ATLA at the behest of my now-late sister. It was a favorite of hers.
Book 3, Ep. 20: Sozin's Comet, Part 4: Avatar Aang
- Sokka! The tension is at 11 immediately!
- HOLY $^#$! All 4 elements going nuke!
- Katara trashed Azula! 🎉
- You took away his firebending?! 🤯
- Zuko hugs are the best hugs! LOVE AND PEACE!
- Iroh got his tea shop! 🍵
- Katara and Aang! 💘😭💘
Welp…kiddo’s bored now. Time to go do non-screen activities. I’ll pick this up later.
Gramma knows what’s up. The “I’m the village crazy lady” scene makes so much more sense in context. 😂
There it is. Can’t be a modern Disney movie without some sort of parental trauma story. So that’s why dad won’t let her go beyond the reef.
