I don’t know if a lot of people know he was Hank Aaron’s brother-in-law
I interned for David Scott’s office in the summer of 2012. He never learned any of our names which became clear on his birthday when he went around the room thanking us for signing his card by saying “Thank you, intern,” starting with me.
He should’ve stepped down years ago.
I wrote something about charter schools and you better be nice 👊🏻

US education was making slow, steady progress up until about the year 2000. That's when the wave of corporate education reform really picked up steam with charter schools and mass standardized testing. The era of corporate ed reform has been terrible for US kids

Shazamming a Supertramp song in public then committing seppuku
All the Democrats but Esteves were in attendance
Yeah, I knew it wouldn’t be selected; bit of a troll on the hosts. They took a question from GeorgiaCAN, APS board chair Jessica Johnson, a woman that drove 3 hours from Albany and State Senator Kenya Wicks
I submitted the question: “With APS and DeKalb facing school closures it seems a curious time to create new charter schools. Would you support a moratorium on charters?”
It was not one of the four selected.
Derrick Jackson took the question as an opportunity to call out vouchers/charters taking money from public schools, suggested they needed a separate line item in the budget, and no one else responded.
ATS used her closing remarks to repeat the less than half truth that charters are public schools
The event was quietly charter tilted
- they chose 3 educators to dialogue with the candidates; 1 worked for a RESA, the other 2 worked at charters
- they selected 4 audience questions; the lobbyist for GeorgiaCAN’s question (How will you ensure more local charters get approved?) was selected
Honestly kind of a snooze fest – I showed up to hear what candidates would say regarding school choice/charters because this was an event sponsored by GeorgiaCAN and Alisha Searcy’s new PAC – very little attention given to “choice”, most of the conversation centered around literacy & QBE formula
I’d hoped he sat it out because it was put on by the “school choice” crowd, though some of the candidates in attendance didn’t seem to know this.
Clamoring for their own war without justification
Zohran Mamdani: "I wouldn't use the slogan 'Globalize the Intifada' myself, but I understand the nuances given the largely peaceful First Intifada."
NYT: "Mamdani has problems with antisemitism."
CPAC attendee: "I'm J-pilled, hint, hint."
NYT: "This young person is critical of Israel."
Yet another (93+) Wrong Way Waymo:
DeKalb Ave & Krog St (Tunnel), Atlanta, GA
Note the left rear door opened briefly. Many Waymo passengers in errant/stuck robots have chosen/had to get out and make their own way through traffic, construction sites, foliage, and even off a fwy.

The Nick Shirley “exposé” on daycare center fraud unwittingly exposes the way a privatized system reliant on government subsidy opens the door to widespread grift… somehow lost on voucher proponents

There are 4 types of private school (in order of cost):
1) Secular monuments to elitism
2) Religious schools to avoid integration
3) Religious schools started out of conviction for the poor and/or religious faithfulness
4) Grift
These schools are solidly in #4 but marketed to those looking for #1
