The classic Ghost Stories for Christmas are still a delight too. A tad dated maybe, but clearly lovingly crafted and huge amounts of talent involved. Really great that Gatiss has brought back the tradition.

Carol, The Apartment and Batman Returns have been on my list the last couple of years. All great choices. I would add Black Christmas (original) and Tokyo Godfathers. Anna and the Apocalypse is mostly fun, but not one I would add to regular rotation.

Breathtaking...

Rayner's situation may not have been much of a neg. Away from the frothing at the mouth, most had sympathy with her, but knew she couldn't stay. There was an independent review, completed in 48 hours and she was gone as the findings were made public. A marked contrast with the last lot!

Exactly what I was thinking, as flicking through these comments. As if horror wasn't always a genre that dealt with big ideas.

I'm currently reading the Culture series. There is a ship in it called MeatFucker... I'm not sure if very serious is how I would describe it.

It shares quite a bit in common with Hitchhikers' Guide when it comes to being silly (although I agree with your general point).

How can the Olympic ceremony be evidence of an elite that hates Britain? It was a fantastic celebration of Britain!

Same. I think in the UK it was just on Netflix. I remember my main thought whilst watching it was how much better it would have been on the big screen.

On my way back from the great Inside No 9 at the Wyndham's theatre this. Plenty of tears (and screams) of laughter to be had. @reece-shearsmith.bsky.social and @sjpemberton.bsky.social were as fantastic as ever.

My hope for next year, is someone can make a plugin for Playnite that can do this sort of thing across multiple launchers. I'm finding that I increasingly play games through other launchers. Epic, Game Pass and EA combined likely see as much use as Steam.

38% of my time was with new releases. Underneath is a radar chart showing genres played. Souls-like is most, Roguelike dexkbuilder and turn-based tactics are about even, fighting is next, and then a little in Metroidvania and MOBA

My Switch and PlayStation unwrapped have just confirmed I've barely touched those consoles this year, bar 1 game each. Tidal hasn't done one yet for my music. But Steam has finally delivered one that finally says something.

The new Indiana Jones game lets you heal with biscotti!

The combat is so delightfully silly too. Machine Games have done such a good job of capturing the spirit of the films.

December is here, so I'm ready to full embrace the Christmas season. Starting to plan what films I will need to watch. What's on everyone's list? These are on mine:

The whole trilogy does a big disservice to Finn really. Even TLJ (which I loved) gives him the weakest part. John Boyega is great and deserved to do a lot more with the character.

Loved The Last Jedi. Thought it made the whole sequel trilogy endeavour worth doing. Canto Bight is a weak spot, but everything else was great.

The other Disney films are mostly fine (except Rise, which I really disliked), but Rogue One also stands out and comes a close second to TLJ

There Will Be Blood caught fire when I saw it. It was literally right at the end, as Daniel Day Lewis says "I'm finished!" Honestly, it might have been a slightly better ending.

Balatro (or UFO50) will win best indie. Reckon Erdtree will be the Game of the Year (although, as a big From fan, I thought it had quite a few lows along with the highs). Metaphor deserves to do well, but might just miss out on winning big awards (it might get narrative).

Game Awards noms always have a lot of repetition, but looks especially bad this year.

Not exactly a good showing of the huge breadth of gaming that is available these days (not that these awards ever are).

It isn't very good (although one of the better ST films starring the Next Gen crew), but I remember seeing this with an aunt and cousins on a trip to Belfast when I was 7. It blew me away. I watched Trek on and off before this, but this film made me a Trekkie.

a woman with a green crown on her head with scarletwitchupd written on the bottom right Alt: Aubrey Plaza as Rio Vidal in Agatha All Along. She is wagging her finger at you with a smirk on her face.

Finished Agatha All Along and was surprised just how good it was. Even managed to nail the landing pretty well, something Wandavision failed with. The highlight has to be any time Aubrey Plaza cackled.

This looks awesome. Love card games, love 4x games, so very much my thing. May have to give it a go.

Not entirely a "go Epic!" though. Nice they aren't trying to shut it down, but I would prefer companies take active involvement in maintaining their history.

No. 5 is Wayne Rooney from FIFA. Nico from GTAIV is one of them, but I have no idea which one. Guessing Default Shepherd is there, but I don't know which one as I only played as One True Female Shepherd to escape the boring angry bald men that were the style of the time.
