I check the Hollywood trade papers like I do every day to share sci-fi news, and when you step back and look at it, coming across this really does make it feel like we’re living in a Truman Show-style social experiment—except that it is inspired by the work of Paul Verhoeven (RoboCop, Total Recall).

FACT OF THE DAY. 26 March 1953. In a huge medical breakthrough, US medical researcher Dr Jonas Salk announced that he had created the first polio vaccine. Polio cases fell from 58,000 per year in 1952 to 6,000 by 1958. Salk’s vaccine was replaced by a new one developed by Albert Sabin in 1962.

I often see confusion around the terminology of fucks to give so I made a chart. #datavisualization

When you're young, you have plenty of fucks to give, but you don't give a fuck.

In middle age you have to give fucks for a while.

Then when you're older, you're all out of fucks to give.

Today’s historic pic: The very first electric train to carry passengers in Sydney departed Central station for Oatley exactly 100 years ago today on March 1 1926. To celebrate, here's a pic of a Sydney single deck suburban electric train arriving at Redfern, NSW, February 2 1985.
