When I was pregnant with my 1st, I was in a breastfeeding Facebook group. It had tens of thousands of people. They wouldn't allow vaccine discussion in the main group but when I tell you all the moderators were virulently (ha) anti vax in the subgroups...Almost an accelerator of anti vax sentiment.

A three-decade long study of chimpanzees has revealed a primate version of a bloody civil war. It's now at risk of getting eliminated due to cuts at the National Science Foundation. My story here (gift link): nyti.ms/4mhr5NQ

A screenshot of two tweets by Representative Nancy Mace.

The first, published at 8:02AM today, reads: "To anyone celebrating "Trans Day of Visibility" today, we sincerely hope you get the help you need."

The second, published at 9:06 AM reads: "The media wants to talk about Bryon and Kristi Noem's personal drama and indiscretions. I want to talk about who is getting deported, who got paid, and who's stealing from taxpayers.

Different priorities. Let's focus on what matters."

If you need a nugget of (mostly) good news this morning, I recommend this @mongabay.com story about a training and compensation program that incentivizes Indian fishermen to release whale sharks. Lotta good conservation lessons here.

Supreme Court’s Michigan pipeline case is about Native rights and fossil fuels, not just technical legal procedure The issue in front of the US Supreme Court is seemingly mundane, about federal or state jurisdiction. Individualized mRNA vaccines evoke durable T cell immunity in adjuvant TNBC - Nature In a phase 1 trial, personalized mRNA vaccines tailored to individual tumour mutations in triple-negative breast cancer induced robust, long-lasting T cell responses and improved prognosis.

More hope from mRNA vaccines. In this instance, individualized vaccines were given to women with triple negative breast cancer following surgery and adjuvant therapy. The results are quite remarkable. Despite cancer finding a ‘T cell-evading’ work-around in some patients.

Oh and good point re: looking at the subset of minerals named after given names!

Yeah, I looked for Chris Emproto, who led the study, to tag him, but he's not on here--he's now a post doc at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History.

What's in a mineral name? Not very many women, U-M study finds The mineral scottyite was named after Michael Scott. Not the Michael Scott of the television series "The Office"—the Michael Scott who co-founded the technology company Apple. Billionaire George Soros...

I'm really not trying to peddle my own stuff, but I worked with a researcher on a news release about sexism in mineral naming conventions. He is now at a different institution, but he planned to work on a study about how naming patterns also follow colonialism.
