Not realizing that forgiveness is earned, and without repentance means nothing.

hi, cis folks!

this week, with some democrat votes, 2 anti-trans bills passed the house. one bans medicaid funds for trans youth care, the other proposes jail time for providers.

they haven't passed the senate, but dems may need convincing to vote no on both.

tap into the 🧵for a quick action.

New way to discredit anyone you dislike (rich people only): Get some AI company to pollute their search with a false accusation like this.

Or just fake a bunch of articles written with AI and post them on trash sites, and the rabid public, already delegating their thinking to AI, will devour it.

AI is a cancer.

They take a look at Ubisoft's "formula" approach and believe that because Ubisoft isn't bankrupt yet, a formulaic approach to game dev with ever more proc-gen or straight up AI-gen content is actually a good thing, despite the ever increasing criticism.

It's what happens when the only thought in executives' mind is "can we present this to shareholders to beg for more money' at any stage in development.

Remember how biased and leading the questions were in favour of the AI companies? And this was still the response.

Remember: when linking to things like YouTube videos, etc. to remove the part of the URL that starts at "?si=" as it is a tracker.
There are others, articles usually have ones that start with "utm" for instance.

Let's all safeguard what we can of our data privacy, especially now.

Meanwhile, even the absolute best (free access) AI-powered translator out there still needs me to correct it to make proper sense. To be fair, non-AI translation of English to German is absolute dogshit, but for someone that averages B1 level in German to need to correct it still...

"masculine leadership" is such a disgustingly telling term, this guy is whole-ass pushing for Handmaid's tale mixed with 1984 and whatever other totalitarian dystopia he's consumed.

The Salvation Army is not a charity. They are an evangelical church that uses donated money to actively oppress gay rights. They've been especially cruel to trans people.

It's that giving time of year again, so this is a reminder that no matter how they try to dress it up, the Salvation Army is not a charity.

5 meters is an incredible amount of sea level rise. Most beaches you know of would be flooded.

Contracts for game actors are a nightmare in the UK SAG-AFTRA's strike might have sorted things out in the US – but UK contract negotiations are still a mess of exploitation, AI clauses, and non-standard rates

I wrote this huge, 3,000-word or so deep dive into the state of game actors’ contracts in the UK, which is a hot mess of exploitation, AI clauses and chaotic rate calculations.

And no one read it.

But you really, REALLY should.

IQ tests tend to measure a set of "skills" that your brain may be naturally good at. I tested extremely high on pattern recognition, very high on one other metric, and slightly above average on everything else. When I was 6. Didn't graduate from college though, which tells you how much that means.

Execs are embracing AI more than their employees are, new research suggests Research from HR software company Dayforce suggests that executives are leaning into AI far more than their employees.

many particulars of this generation of generative AI are shaped around a culturally peculiar, distorted idea of intelligence.

Experimentation, risk-taking, invention, whatever you call it, is everything. And when entities of outsized power, whatever the form, begin to impede that process, it is every single layer of this industry that suffers. https://bit.ly/4rw43oW

A Tumblr post from user "nitewrighter," March 26.

Me: I don't get it. I thought I was doing a lot better than I was a few years ago. I'm like 10 times more on top of things than I used to be. How does everything feel terrible now?

The Tiny Me in OSHA-approved Hi-Vis Gear Who lives in my brain and pulls all the levers: Boss, it's the fascism. You're completely gunked up with cortisol due to the fact that your entire daily life is now underscored with a haunting awareness of the rapid erosion of your rights, dignity, and any and all social safety nets, and you're also bearing witness to the most vulnerable people immediately being persecuted. This creates a natural stress response that basically means you're going to continue having memory and organizational problems, as well as emotional imbalances.

Me: BUT I HAVE A BULLET JOURNAL AND I MEDITATE NOW.

Tiny OSHA Me: BOSS, THE FASCISM.

There's a pretty great Tumblr post about this:

The problem is that, as we've seen, there's a subset of humanity stupid and/or gullible enough to actually go through with this.

4 months ago 0 0 0 0

... That isn't a matter of regulation. That is a direct attack on the continued survival of the human race, and it needs to be stopped. Talk about a cure worse than the illness... No amount of global warming-based climate change could be worse than a Matrix-style permanent atmospheric pollution.

There is no congruent way to look at generative AI and think “this is the future.” The most well known fact about it is that it messes up all the time, the next being that it loses lots of money.

I already disliked their app format, because whenever I logged in I would be unable to find the stuff I'd entered the website for, but when they started being polluted by AI art it became worse. Leaning into it like this just makes that worse. I'm constantly amazed if I encounter a board WITHOUT AI.

Well folks, looks like Crunchyroll is insistent on going down the drain. Anyone that's got a subscription, might be time to cancel it because their content quality is only going to get worse from here.

Well, that explains why my work PC keeps freezing the hell up when I try to do excel formatting... It also explains why the W11 hardware requirements are so absurd...

Yet another reason why I'm not touching W11. My workplace seems to have a setup that's at least halfway sensible, but Windows explorer is still at least as bad as it was in W10, and I don't have the access needed to install Everything search there. Which is 100x faster than any native search.

For me it's having to turn off any sort of autocomplete effect in VScode because "intellisense" (aka stupid-shit) will forcefully autocorrect your input into something that doesn't actually work. In this case, trying to act like any function I'm writing in JS into a constructor function.
