From The Martian Way to The Expanse via Outland. Space is hard, corporations are worse, somebody always has to do the work. Highly recommended reading and viewing for anyone who wants to explore the dirty side of scifi.
Two battered prospector ships working an asteroid field, a vast broken planet filling the background.
a lone prospector ship working an asteroid field,
An asteroid smelting station in front of a planetary ring
Space! Prospecting. .Every civilisation needs its raw materials.Somebody has to do the unglamorous work. Out in the belt, chipping away at rocks, dreaming of the big strike and cursing the corporations. #Lightwave3d renders #ScifiArt #Scifi
Huge fan of their work, epic sense of scale. You should check out Alex Jay Brady for similiar work.
A derelict spacecraft on a desert world, two exporers are looking at the wreck from next to their vehicle.
A wreck and wreckage in space.
The remains of a cracked planet
Star Trek USS Reliant adrift in space on fire, she is missing a nacelle.
Space! Wrecks and wreckage - when things go sideways (and they will). Every hulk drifting in the dark or at rest planetside has a story be it a bad decision, a desperate gamble or simply out of luck. #Lightwave3d #Scifi #ScifiArt Heavy usage of Rhys Salcombes Trans-U model here .
You know, I've never thought of it that way. But on reflection I can see how - claustrophobic and desperate would be a heady mix. Thanks.
Pascale Blanché science fiction art.
Love Pascale Blanché’s artwork. Always full of vivid story and colour. #SciFi #Art @pascalblanche.bsky.social #artsky
If mega-ships are your thing I can heartily recommend @garethlpowell.bsky.social "Descendant Machine" part of his "Continuance" series. Epic story with huge scope and heart.
Two city sized spaceships floating in front of a red planet and just behind an asteroid field.
Two MASSIVE starships in space. Yellow coloured background with some space rocks floating in between the viewer and the shiips.
Two blue city sized ships heading upawards above a a golden oloured planetary ring system.
More space rocks, this time in a blue space with two huge starships.
Space ! Super size me. I'm a huge fan of city sized ships be they Colony movers, Battleships, Arkships (and yes GSVs). Impractical ? Probably, but undeniably cool and great story devices. Some #Lightwave3d renders of Skynet3020 & Simon-3d's models found on Renderosity. #Scifi #ScifiArt

Inevitably I had to try it out on a different mode l😃 This time Adam Burch's Starfury model. Previous attempts were on models with no texture maps just basic materials. The Starfury has maps so it takes a few different tweaks. Looks okay and is really fast to render. #Lightwave3d
Experimentation continues, this time with the EDF Andromeda, model by Don Gaiser.
I'll be the first to admit it doesn't quite work. Took me ages to work out that it's the shader that does the work not the lighting setup. Also my inexperience in the look of the anime itself is showing.
A digital rendering of a spacegoing battleship. An attempt at an anime style image.
Procrastination ! I've a garden full of leaves that need dealing with. So what have I spent Saturday doing? That's right fooling around in #Lightwave3d working on Cel Shading. In my defense I was left unsupervised - my wife having gone to a football match today. #ScifiArt #Scifi
Jenny Urquhart - Bluebell Wood.
Acrylic on canvas.
Absolutely adore this !
Acrylic painting that glow in the dark of the Butterfly Nebula, a bipolar planetary nebula. From dusty, dark centre, emerging bright wings of clouds, dust, and starforming regions spreading like butterfly wings.
My first attempt at glowing in the dark acrylic painting. Butterfly Nebula, a bipolar planetary nebula, acrylic on canvas 30x40cm. #acrylic #acrylicpainting #SciArt #ArtYear #art #painting #space
Space Battleship Yamato. Model by Don Gaiser . #Lightwave3d render with a splash of photoshoppery. Have to admit, whilst I'm aware of the series I'm not deep into the lore - so any mistakes are definitely mine not Don's. #ScifiArt #Scifi

Fantastic, mean moody and magnificent.
A 1 km long accelerator nestled between Alcubierre rings, cooled by glowing radiator spines, protected by dielectric mirrors and Whipple shields, propelled by a DT fusion torch.
