i dunno maybe it's because i'm in Minnesota and we kicked out Al Franken for squeezing his constituents' asses and now have a woman senator who is *currently holding the senate floor to save the boundary waters*, but you got a man with baggage? you can toss the man!

Fairhope protester acquitted of charges after inflatable costume arrest during anti-Trump rally Renea Gamble, 62, was cleared of all charges Wednesday after her arrest at a "No Kings" protest drew national attention and raised First Amendment questions.

Wearing a penis costume to a No Kings rally is a 1st Amendment right. Alabama’s efforts to prosecute were firmly rejected today. www.al.com/news/2026/04...

Hegseth Borrows Violent Prayer from ‘Pulp Fiction’ to Bless Iran War at April Pentagon Worship Service For the second month in a row, Pete Hegseth, who likes to call himself “secretary of war,” read a violent prayer — that echoes a scene in the Quentin Tarantino film Pulp Fiction — during a worship ser...

what’s funny about this is that tarantino wrote this “ezekiel 25:17“ for the film. it isn‘t actually in the bible. publicwitness.wordandway.org/p/hegseth-bo...

A bounce house with razor sharp teeth and tentacle wings flying off the ground. A family runs away in terror. The father shouts, "it's taking flight! The son shouts to the family dog, "Sparky! Wait for us!" Sparky shouts back in perfect human language, "Nope!" The text reads: Never use a bounce house if it's windy. Wind speed should be no more than 15 to 25 miles per hour. Make sure your bounce house is properly staked and anchored on a flat, even surface.

Something the next season of “The Pitt” could (should) consider tackling is the very real experience/frustration patients have when telling doctors about their bodies and symptoms, perhaps based on previous knowledge, and having it dismissed or not believed because the patient is not a doctor

'That wasn't me': How facial recognition led to a woman being jailed for 6 months Kimberlee Williams, who lived in Oklahoma, was jailed after being accused of crimes in Maryland, a state she'd told investigators she never visited.

Kimberlee Williams had never been to Maryland when she was arrested for a crime that she didn’t commit, because police relied on an incorrect result from facial recognition technology and concealed it from the court when applying for arrest warrants.

We can't let this happen to anyone else.

I know money is tight for so many, but here goes: during Sexual Assault Awareness Month, I am raising money for Callisto, a survivor assistance resource. I almost couldn’t believe it was real when I first researched it. It *is* real & I joined their board. give.projectcallisto.org/fundraiser/7...

People have said this before, but it's weird that if you are in the Bluesky age demographic of 38 to 42, young people right now are talking *exactly* like the incel loser 4chan dweebs you encountered 15 years ago.

They're using words you deeply associated, long ago, with incel CSAM dweebs on chans

A Statement In Opposition to HR 7661

The freedom to speak and to read is a fundamental principle of the United States of America. That is why we have joined together — parents, students, educators, library workers, authors, free expression advocates, booksellers, and publishers — to stand in support of our nation’s school-aged children and teens and in opposition to H.R. 7661.

H.R. 7661, if passed, will compel nationwide book censorship. It confuses obscenity with identity and stigmatizes vulnerable young people, particularly trans children and teens, based on who they are. It will continue to drain funding from our already underfunded schools and libraries. And it will threaten the creativity and critical thinking that are vital to education in the U.S.

• JD VANCE RESPONDS TO POPE LEO:
"When the Pope says that God is never on the side of those who wield the sword - there is more than a THOUSAND year tradition of Just war Theory."

"In the same way that it's important for the vice president of the United States to be careful when I talk about matters of public policy, I think it's very, very important for the pope to be careful when he talks about matters of theology."

"And I think that one of these issues here is that there has been - if you're going to opine on matters of theology, you've got to be careful, you've got to make sure it's anchored in the truth, and that's one of the things that I try to do, and it's certainly something I would expect from the clergy, whether they're Catholic or Protestant."

I’ve given this a great deal of thought, trying to come up with the perfect joke for this moment, and this is what I have so far -

POPE LEO: our religion teaches that this war is bad

VANCE: wow, who died and made YOU head of the Catholic Church??

POPE LEO: well, you should know, you were there

I mean, if his benchmark is "its important for the VP to be careful when talking about matters of public policy" I think he has already lost the argument.

Definitely advocating for using a (free) pickup option at any grocer you can. 1) you don’t interact with the checkout at all. 2) you don’t expose anyone to any infection you may have, and they don’t expose you. 3) Makes use of a service people NEED, so helps keep it from getting discontinued. —

I’d seen her chasing fries thrown by folks at other tables, but my food wasn’t even here yet. Nevertheless, she pegged me as an easy mark, and spent half an hour sitting an inch away, hoping for more fries. Utterly fearless.

Was getting lunch out today when a feeling stole over me — the eerie sense of being stared at, hard, from close by. Like when your small dog is begging for table scraps. Looked down automatically to the spot by my ankle where our late dachshund would have been waiting, and there was: this duck

The thing is, this is probably happening because AI book “authors” are uploading hundreds of books and then not selling many of them because that’s not the plan.

Better people than me have articulated the genius that is Howard Ashman and what an immense tragedy his death was, but I still especially love the lyrics, "No one plots like Gaston, takes cheap shots like Gaston, plans to persecute harmless crackpots like Gaston!"
