We’re glad we captured it though, and it’s brilliant to know those tracks are still being played today.

This was fast going, as we’d only formed in Nov. '79 and had spent some of that time finding a studio we liked. Most bands wait a while to refine their sound before committing to a professional studio, and we’re not sure the engineer, Tim Wheatley, knew what to make of our unfiltered enthusiasm.
On this day in 1980 The Trudy returned to Chestnut Studios to mix 11 tracks we’d recorded on 31st March for our side of the album Volcano Fo Lé Ferret (shared with The Magnificent 7).
Fantastic gig!
Great times!
In 1983 we held our Christmas Shindig (patent pending) at the Grove Tavern in Kingston. It was widely acclaimed as the best Christmas Shinding we held at the Grove Tavern in Kingston that year. We hope your Christmas Shindig is equally successful. Merry Christmas everybody!
Stuck for a last minute Xmas present?
‘Dear Catherine Wheel’ is the Philpott's fabulous book of letters to, & replies from, all your favourite indie bands, plus some band called The Trudy.
An ideal present for fans of books like this!

On this day in 1985 we didn’t play with Moonbats and Ozric Tentacles in Croydon as our bass player's car broke down and he couldn't get back from Cornwall. Maybe it was Devon. Perhaps we should have played without him.
Unused 10" acetate for The Invisible Man 7" single. Hand inscribed by the great man himself:

Here's to the next million!!

On 17/11/1981 John Peel played Hotel by The Trudy. Our drummer recently found out, via a #Cardiacs page, that the Cardiac Arrest EP he played on in 1979 was played twice on the John Peel show. He was so excited to discover this, just 46 years after it happened, that he barely slept for a week.
As well as being in The Trudy, Melissa Jo Heathcote has joined the excellent 'Terry Bickers and the Inner Spiral'. Their great new single 'Keepers' is out now and they're playing The Butler in Reading tonight (Saturday 31st) and The Lexington in London tomorrow (Sunday 1st).
It's a beautiful book isn't it! Aaron did a fantastic job on the design!
Great piece about Tim and Cardiacs.
Two days late this time. If we’d posted this on Sunday we could have said, "On this day in 1987, The Trudy played at the brilliant Alice in Wonderland at Gossips."
Oh no! We should have posted this yesterday! We could have then said, "On this day in 1990 ..."
Must try harder next year!
A poster advertising our second gig, in 1981. Rescued from a wall by Sue Smallwood and now presented here for your wonderment.

Oops! Still a great retrospective and still a great zine though! 😎
ORGAN zine, covering art, music & underculture, has its 40th birthday this year and has published a great retrospective that’s well worth a read. This isn’t a nostalgia fest though. They post current news & reviews most days, & have a weekly radio show, so get yourself over there!

Melissa sung her heart out, but this version of 'From Venus With Love', which was a reworking for a potential single release in 1991, was put into a cupboard and forgotten about. It finally saw the light of day in 2009 on the #VinylJapan compilation album 'The Adventures! The Suspense!!'
Haha! 😅
Unfortunately, we never played there.
Thank you to Darren Rogers for a photo from back in the day. Melissa & Arturo - possibly at Imperial College. #TheTrudy
