In general, (re)orienting education wholly or chiefly to specific perceived market needs is always going to produce disaster once the near term passes. It also eviscerates institutions that might otherwise help people weather change, intellectually and in other ways

I had a candid and thoughtful discussion with @dbrauer.net and South Mpls Lisa about why Minnesota responded to the federal occupation the way it did... starting with a timeline of key events. Unbuffered podcast episode 4 - Minn's Network of Trust vs. ICE communitynetworks.org/content/how-...

Hi Ms. Kabas! I’m Zach, a high school journalist. I recently published an investigation into a fried chicken restaurant on public hospital land in NC using a tax loophole to avoid $110K+ in property taxes. Would be grateful if you gave it a look or shared it:

Jennifer @JenYetAgain@beige.party in 2017 a popular twitter game was to type a partial phrase then see what your phone auto-completes it with. this proved so popular that it is now the only business model in the US. Feb 9, 2026 at 4:35:18PM Boosted by 968: Favourited by 1324:

Hey, just make art instead, man.
Digital artwork with a square aspect ratio. It features six highly stylized lionesses in a pride circling a slain male lion. The male is shown from top-down view while the females are shown from a side view. The lionesses have mandala patterns in their fur. The dead male lion appears skinny and old. The style is similar to a vintage print on textured paper. The color themes are gold and red. The bottom right contains the artist's signature and the the word "yong-gi" which is a Korean word for courage.
I feel a strange need to repost this art. Sometimes art needs reposting y'know? Like this art. Did you know lionesses sometimes take out their males when the pride is under intense pressure? Apparently bees, ants, & termites do this too. #art

Context: this speech is from SIR THOMAS MORE, a history written, as near as scholars can tell, in the early 1600s by 6 or 7 people including Dekker, Heywood, Chettle, Shakespeare, and Munday.
It was never performed, because Jacobean England was a police state and it was banned by the censor.

Me in June 2024 trying to tell everyone that OpenAI was going to run out of money
I'm not very online (anymore, thank fuck) but I give BSKY a cursory look (as a Mpls local). I was taken aback by the snide comments/subtweets/etc. about you. _That's_ what sticks out as weird to me, rather than anything you've posted. _If I were more online I'd understand_ <-- that's the problem

The CSU/OpenAI contract is set to expire June 30, 2026.
Sign this petition: actionnetwork.org/petitions/cancel-chatgpt... for the CSU NOT to renew the contract and to use the savings to protect jobs at CSU campuses facing layoffs.
BREAKING: Tenants across Minneapolis and Saint Paul have just launched a Twin Cities tenant union, citing the fact that their cities are under siege, and saying they need to band together to protect one another.

A digital art drawing with a cat in three different modes with accompanying text: "rest, regulate, resist”. Inspired by the political situation that has been unfolding in the US - protests, murders of civilians in the streets by ICE/CBP agents, and the rising fascism that’s been taking hold here. It’s a lot to process. There’s a lot of important news happening, and the term “doomscrolling” feels trivializing in the face of a situation that is unfolding on people’s doorsteps right now. Yes, it’s very important to stay aware and informed. BUT - it’s also important to be aware of the impact that prolonged acute stress can have on the nervous system. It’s a health hazard in itself, and can result in long term heath problems, including chronic illnesses such as me/cfs. (Ask me how I know… 😞) So, it’s absolutely crucial during this time to take care of yourself and, as much as possible, not get fully swept away in the stress of current events, as scary, nerve-wracking, infuriating, dangerous, and immediate as they are. Self care is not selfish. We need you at your best. #art #illustration #politics #protest #minnesota #minneapolis #iceout
Recharge. Stay hydrated. Eat a healthy snack. Breathe. Embrace moments of joy wherever you can find them.
Prolonged stress can have long term health consequences. Self care is not selfish - it’s empowering.

📌Our country was violently attacked just over five years ago, and America deserves to finally hear and see the "proof beyond a reasonable doubt" and "powerful evidence" Jack Smith obtained against the traitor who perpetrated this homegrown terror, Donald J. Trump.
On Jan. 22 they will.

In 2026: Generative AI is not inevitable. You can say no. You can refuse. You can reject the disgusting lukewarm slop that the richest and worst people in the world are trying to force-feed you. You can tell them to eat shit and die mad. You can break the machine
"Academics literally cannot make genAI go away" we also can't make underage drinking go away and we're not advocating for installing bar carts in every classroom.
