Super proud of my advisee Dr. Alex Maxim for this new open access paper in ERL, quantifying how deep residential efficiency can keep people safer & reduce generating capacity/grid infra needed under decarb. We find efficiency can cut peak demand by 1/2, at costs competitive with firm supply.

I recall criticisms that focusing on adaptation suggested the world was giving up on mitigation. Now it seems like we're leapfrogging adaptation entirely. L&D is supposed to be about what's beyond the limits of adaptation--I don't think we're quiiiite there yet.
