Just been speaking to our binman.
Twenty-three thousand steps a day he says he’s doing.
God bless those boys.

Morning!

Nothing really bad, it was just poor form.
It was a pretty straight documentary and at one stage some blokes were talking and I noticed a soft electronic bed was playing underneath for no discernible reason.
And it just disappeared after a while, again for no discernible reason.
🤷♂️
I’m still cross today about the poor use of music I heard in a Radio 4 documentary podcast I listened to forty-eight hours ago.
It’s not easy being me.
First single I ever bought (and the one that taught me to not leave records out in the sun). 😢
Morning!

WFMU’s Techtonic show that @markhurst.bsky.social makes is always a great listen but especially so when @sundogplanets.mastodon.social.ap.brid.gy is a guest.
Have a wee listen to this week’s episode and add Kessler Syndrome to the list of things paralysing you with fear
Yay

Today in Middle-Aged Man News, I have bought my very first soldering iron.
I am now extremely likely to spend the next wee while completely and properly breaking all the semi-broken electronic things that currently fill my house, making myself both furious and sad in the process.
Poor bugger
Happy Record Store day to all who celebrate.
I spent ten years working in record shops.
Once somebody came to the counter and asked for a copy of “Bohapsody Rhapsody”.
I enjoyed that.

I listen to a LOT of podcasts and I have a well trained critical ear.
I’m discerning.
Yet here I am, giggling like an idiot because the man on this one said “stinky go bye bye”.
There’s a line to be drawn from me listening to Benjamen Walker on WFMU, hearing Andrea Silenzi filling in with “Why Oh Why” then listening to all of that when that was on and “enjoying” the contributions from her “friend” Randy to this, Randy’s own podcast finally surfacing.

I always think the presence of the Vibraslap adds a bit of fun to a musical track.
So, with that in mind, I’d like to propose the use of the Vibraslap at fifty seconds here for the title of Least Fun Use Of The Vibraslap In Music Ever.

Just remembered that I saw it at The Bluecoat in Liverpool as part of an excellent sound-based art exhibition years ago.

I can’t remember where I saw this Ragnar Kjartansson piece installed or if I had it played to me at a conference or what but it HAUNTS me.

I been listening to that Andre 3000 flute album again.

A ewe in a field with two little lambs huddling next to her. It’s not terrifically clear in the picture (as she walked away when I went out to take it) but the lambs are both wearing clear plastic rainjackets to help them stay a bit warmer and drier.
The weather’s been so cold and wet that it’s had a devastating effect on the lambing here with lots of poor wee casualties.
Today the new lambs in the field next to us are now wearing wee plastic raincoats to help them stay warm.
Bless them.
This reminds me of my last week working at Virgin in Cardiff where I created lots of DVD dividers for films that I had just made up.
The highlight of the week was when one lady sheepishly came up to the counter, said Withnail was her favourite film and asked about “Withnail & Geoff”.
I’m into it.
A scene from the EE advert showing a busy living room where (a weird expanded version of) the band rEDOLENT are playing.
Adverts and advertising are evil and the ruination of all things good.
That being said, I do always get a wee kick seeing my favourite band - rEDOLENT - in their blink-and-you-miss-it appearance in the EE ads.
I’m just nipping out to run a wee 5k.

A piece of card saying “Group O” and “Thanks for coming back”. A small red pin badge of two interlinked hearts with “O+” in it is in the bottom right hand corner.
Text talking about Blood Group O including the sentence “Famous group O’s include the Queen, Prince Charles, Ronald Reagan and Al Capone.”
I gave blood the other day and they gave me a wee badge. Looking at it now and I get the feeling they may have been sitting on these badges for some time.

That slightly disconcerting feeling you get when you see a handful of sheep walking lazily down the main road outside by themselves.
(The buggers are always breaking out in lambing season as the shepherd’s so overworked and overtired that the odd gate gets left open in the chaos)
The starlings in my shed are NUTS right now
I miss the good old days when podcasts were interesting.
I liked that one about the belt buckle, that was good.
Morning.
I've been a long term disappointment to myself.
