Good lucky scatter plot for MLS 2026; SKC is atrocious, Vancouver is incredible
good-lucky catter plot of all MLS teams since 2013
With most teams having played 8 games, the underlying stats are beginning to become useful while still noisy.
Vancouver may be the best MLS team ever and SKC the worst. Both are performing as expected.
There's a huge pack of average teams down on their luck.
the Dean Smith move to bring Zaha inside to start the 2nd that Doyle mentions here was a simple change to judo the shadow Tayvon had on Zaha, leading to the 2 goals
triple bad:
-Ojeda had to go offense to defense
-pulled the best 1v1 defender in Tay out of the backline
-NYC couldn't rotate to cover

Sporting on a record pace (derogatory), Gil still running the Revs & more | Matchday 8
Including a Quakes team who's got a real argument as the best in MLS through eight weeks.

If Poch called Tsakiris into the USMNT for the World Cup I wouldn’t bat an eye. He’s been that good.
Ah my bad, missed one.

Soccer is the most important of the unimportant things. Eduard Löwen's return to the field was a reminder of how unimportant sports are, but simultaneously how they can provide some measure of joy during unthinkable suffering.
who'd win: the current USMNT or a combined Quakes/Sounders US XI?

San Jose, officially the best team in the league, started 8 domestic products tonight.
Orlando and Houston, two of the worst, combined to start zero last night.

yes
Hasn't been much of this from the Galaxy this year. Really great final third combo play, and man it's nice to see Paintsil back and healthy.
Rafa Navarro's movement has been brilliant this year – so damn hard to track, and opens so much space for the rest of the attack.
Vancouver's too good to let them just go right up the gut against a broken midfield & backline.
trying to double check official stats on MLSsoccer dot com is no longer reliable. Diego Luna scored last night. His profile page on the league site says he didn't.
It's such mind numbingly basic stuff. These mistakes are so small time.
Union ownership spent actual money on those forwards. They're going to get *years* to prove their quality.

it was so good
Might just give this Pass of the Week so I don't have to say anything else about this game.
Took charge of Real Sociedad when they were in relegation trouble, has them 4 points off 5th, looking for a Champions League spot, with only 2 defeats, and now Copa Del Rey Champion.
The first USA Manager to win a trophy in a Top Five league. Enorme, Rino 👏
🇺🇸 Pellegrino Matarazzo leads Real Sociedad to win the Copa del Rey!
Matarazzo took over Socieded midseason and they’ve been flying since. What a story for the trailblazing American manager

welp
It took Nico 75 minutes to figure out he should get a true No. 9 out there against a team that has zero MLS-caliber CBs.
