Wendell G. Freeland (1925–2014) was a pioneering Pittsburgh civil rights attorney, and the first president of Neighborhood Legal Services! A champion for racial justice, he founded key community organizations.
Yesterday, Jendi McNicholas, Olivia O'Donnell, Melissa Ruggiero, NLS alumna Christine Porter and Melissa Evans attended the ACBA Women in the Law Division Luncheon at which Washington Mystics GM Jamila Wideman delivered the keynote address.

Active in the community, Health Law Pioneer and Civil Rights Activist, Eric Springer (1929-2020) was one of the original incorporators of Neighborhood Legal Services and was the first Black President of the Allegheny County Bar Association.
The program will address practical and procedural issues relating to preparing and filing petitions as a pro bono volunteer in Allegheny County through Neighborhood Legal Services and the Pittsburgh Pro Bono Partnership.
