As a Black woman, seeing such a close succession of news of Black women being killed by their intimate partners really messes one’s sense of safety in these turbulent times

My Spanish has gotten so good (or the algorithms have seen enough of a pattern from me engaging in Spanish-speaking content/media) that I’m now getting advertisements in Spanish 😂😭

I was one of those persons who religiously used to make fun of Star Wars prequels for having its villain character be named Count Dooku until I learned that America elected its own old ass shitbeagle named Senator Mike Crapo.

And since art imitates life, that pretty much shut me up.

The Salary Penalty: Why Trump’s Tax Bill Hits a Banker Harder Than a Plumber These days the biggest factor determining what high earners owe the government is how they make their money.

"Well-off professionals (doctors, lawyers) are explicitly barred from one of the most lucrative of recent tax breaks.

"By helping [investors, business owners + people making tips + overtime], the policies elevate Trump’s base over college-educated Americans who consistently vote for his opponents."

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei warns AI will wipe out many entry-level jobs in tech, law, consulting and finance within 1–5 years.

I think middle and senior white-collar jobs get killed too. If AI can do the routine work well enough, firms need fewer people.

UBI or AI upskilling won’t be enough.

Every article like this is trash, mealy-mouthed cowardice.

They talk of "lesser known stories" and how the effort to tell them is "under pressure."🤡

They don't say what is plain to see: "Racist people don't like Black stories being told, and so make active efforts to erase them from history."

I have always thought that level of obsession was insane. When one person told me they knew their favorite actor’s blood type, I knew that I didn’t want to ever be too deep in a fandom

Mine did. US maps and world maps. And we had to know the state & country capitols. Now I’ve forgotten most of the capitals of the states I rarely visit, but I can locate a country or a state on a map. I always get Vermont and New Hampshire mixed up tho 😂😭

Writing Tip:
Empathize with your characters. You don't have to like them or agree with their actions, but understand why they take the actions that they do. Evil characters seldom do an action 'because it's evil'. They often have a real practical reason.
