Yes, MK8D was a success, but to say that a follow up, releasing nearly 9 years later, shouldn't go up in price because it's predecessor sold well is ignoring the impact of inflation ($60 in 2017 is $78 now) and the nuances of global manufacturing and its related costs (which have also only gone up)

Nintendo is a big company, their annual salary bill is north of $500m, while advertising is ~$500m a year and R&D another $650m. If we're generous, MK8D brings in ~$350m a year (63m / 8) - suddenly that's a relative drop in an ocean. Nintendo are profitable, but MK8D doesn't add that much to it.
Only true if all sales were made in USD and via the eShop - otherwise you're missing out the cost of the supply chain that goes into getting a physical product into stores across the world. Nintendo do not get all the money from the retail price, not by a long shot.
Madness, I'm like a prisoner 20 years into a life sentence now - if I get out, I'll just end up murdering someone to get back in.

Honestly, for a beginner, a dialogue system is a complicated task - especially if you're adding in stuff like camera control too!
It's probably not a 5 hour job for lots of game developers - unless they've got a system they've used before!

Yup, but I also understand it - the way AI has been presented makes folk think it's the best choice for lots of stuff that it just, isn't. Academic writing is one of them most of the time!
Heading towards the end of marking crunch time and I have reached the point where all work looks AI generated now. The fixed patterns of language and layout that come from ChatGPT appear in my dreams.

Learned that lesson a long time ago and just went with recording feedback in a separate document that I can upload to Brightspace once I'm done - I mark rubrics in Brightspace, but that's quicker and less frustrating to lose than a load of feedback!
The game is utter chaos, I mean look at this shit I love it.
