Same. I’m reading it now. The chapter on Haiti absolutely floored me.

This is a very Patrick Rothfuss, Hank and John Green, heck, even Warren Buffett thing to say - 100% agree.
It's weird to me that so many of my neighbors voted to take away their own healthcare to give me a tax cut. They need their health care. I don't need a tax cut. Neither does anyone who makes more than me, either.
Comment: What do you expect from Apartheid Alabama?
Better. You should expect better. And demand it. Cynicism keeps things broken.
My daughter has discovered Chet Baker. I wonder, when he was sitting in Paris in 1955 writing these songs did he think that one day a girl in Alabama would use them to study by?
Wearing Spanx to my first Orange Theory class. I’m sure there’s nothing emotionally immature about this decision. 🤡
On chapter five of Everything is Tuberculosis by @johngreen if Henry dies I don’t know if can continue.
Just had to put a moratorium on my husband on all singing of George Jones songs.
I dunno man. I’ve got five kids. The natives have taken over.
The eleven year old asked me for an overview of the religions today after school. After I did Buddhism she said ‘I think that’s the one I’ll go with.’
So…there we go. Apparently she’s Buddhist now.
The Loan Programs Office (LPO) is one of the most quietly effective tools the federal government has. It is the center of our industrial policy providing loans that banks won't give for energy innovation. It funds real projects. Battery factories. Nuclear reactors. Geothermal energy. Car factories.
If we’re serious about more efficient government and better everyday life in America - which we all should be - that means actually improving government, not cutting health care for poor people and slashing support for veterans.

My fifteen year old has discovered The Smiths. Please send help.

My goodness. I love hearing smart people talk. Look at the comments, y’all. It’s all Charlie Brown grownups to me but I so appreciate the passion and knowledge they bring to the table.
But don’t you just get so freaking happy when you go into a meat and three and it’s on CNN or, heck, ESPN - just anything besides Foxnews or OAN?
It’s a real unearned W for all Gen-Xers that the teens use both “boomer” and “millennial” as shorthand for old people but have completely forgotten about us, the worst generation of them all.
Historical marker at the spot where the British landed on April 18 1775, with NO KINGS written on the ground in blue chalk
Every year at this hour, we walk down to the marker where the British boats landed on 18 April 1775 (inland now, because the river is narrower) and read the Longfellow poem.
I offered the children the option to walk the British route to Concord in time for the shot, but they declined.

Teenager played golf all afternoon - asked him how it went: “terrible - after watching the Masters on tv it’s just like, what’s even the point. I’ll never putt like that.”

Timeline cleanse: saw this on walking myself to coffee this morning.
How about letting us know about things we can actually CHANGE that we can worry about?
“Hank, why are you spending so much time defending the freaking /minecraft movie?/“
Actually, I’m not defending anything, I am attacking the practice of dumping buckets of jaded misery on moments of goofy joy and I will absolutely die on that hill.
Timeline cleanse. This was before we were able to adopt her so never got to post the video.
"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."
-Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1953
Now this is a sport I could get behind!
