One of the best works on fascism. I was lucky enough to see him read it live, before it was published in the NYRB at a freer Columbia in 1994. We both smoked Merits (brown) and he bummed one off me after the lecture.
#OnThisDay in 2023, our video for 'Inamorata,' directed by Jess Cope, debuted...
12/ Ad-tech built a warrantless surveillance system in the guise of a marketing tool.
You are the target. So are your kids. And your friends.
And it's being abused by some of the worst autocrats & security forces around the world.

4/ Where does #Webloc, a tool that can monitor entire populations come from?
Well, it originated from notorious Israeli surveillance firm Cobwebs.
But like so many surveillance products, it's gone through some corporate ownership shuffling.
Now, it's sold by #Penlink.
ID verification on a device level is perhaps a better way to screen minors from adult/social services. Responsibility rests with the parent, not each service platform.
If however this is extended to all users, not just minors, it becomes mass surveillance and marks the end of Internet anonymity.

Screenshots of a Twitter thread from 2019: GAIL SIMONE: The Punisher would be a lot prettier if he smiled more. TWITTER USER A: Ummmmm, I know what you're getting at here, but the jab doesn't work due to his backstory and personality. He actually has a huge plot point as to why he doesn't smile alot. Try harder GAIL SIMONE: [Posts a photo of a bookshelf full of comic spines] TWITTER USER A: Nice collection of what looks to be mostly female centric comic books. That literally has nothing to do with my comment, nor the topic under discussion. Unless if you're pointing out what is the most likely fact that you know very little about Punisher's backstory. TWITTER USER B: Read the names of the writer on the spine, now look at her name. TWITTER USER A: K, so she's a comic book author. That actually makes her case look worse seeing as how she should know better GAIL SIMONE Dude, between the two of us, which one has actually written the Punisher, do you think?
Glad to see they've got this one:

[At the Pentagon] "So the German naval attache definitely said they were sending mine sweepers to help in the Strait?"
"Yes, admiral. His English wasn't brilliant, but he definitely said they were sending a mine ship."
The English in Ireland: a great bunch of lads.
Thanks, Tommy Cromwell. 😐
Don't see why should thank Thatcher for any of this, but pretty much yeah, 'twas fun times.

Meanwhile, musk has the support of Durov, Telegram's boss. Investigated by the French as well.
Hope you had a pleasant time and experience in Athens.
ICE agents stand in two rows, carrying riot gear (helmets with face masks, black vests) and in green uniform. Clowns, standing 4 ft away next to officers, also carrying items (whistles, a whirling toy, etc) and in full, very colorful costumes, some wearing red, round clown noses.
I love Portland, OR!
