in general, ranged enemies contributed a LOT to the difficulty. i feel like if you removed them, youd have to compensate some other way... would be cool to see what direction it would evolve in if you did

Moon Child began life as an Amiga AGA title before shifting to PC, where it finally saw release in 1997. A fascinating glimpse into a project caught between two eras. More here:

yes because that is extremely funny
and here i was thinking vividlope was klonoa inspired. if only i knew what was to come
ok the cover image leads me to believe you dont know how like, the dennys in rhode island are these weird silver reflective buildings for some reason???? its extremely scary
A friend of mine who runs these things always repeats something to me along the lines of "Playtests and Research isn't for telling you the right thing to do, it's to confirm to you that your assumptions are correct and that your intentions are getting through to the players" and that's stuck with me
happy good small games anniversary ☺️ very pleasing for that to line up with the last weekend of the cookie cutter jam, the praxis is strong farawaytimes.blogspot.com/2023/02/how-...
thank you! i will definitely look into this, i might contact you at some point ^-^
i have a lot of obscure mr domino merch, and i'd love to scan it for preservation reasons, but i'm not really willing to ship it off since its important to me. do you just have this equipment personally, or is this like... something you can do at libraries or some other facility???
i literally think i've never seen bruce's face with the assymetrical eyebrows like this, it's awesome
you assume a fully rational actor, who only wants to increase their own wealth. whereas, in reality, the driving force in most peoples lives is compassion for jay-z, and therefore, the goal is to maximize COMBINED wealth between the two of you
messaging you on discord now!
would you like some help with the transparency issues on the older gm games? theres some ways that can be fixed
if you have something specific in mind, in my experience, its usually better to just rollout a custom solution. itll take so much tweaking and iteration either way, its better to use a system thats under your control
idk if i have the right skillset but talk with me about this sometime, i would love to help out
like, even if they have the same end result, there's a big difference between toying with something until you're happy with it, and just... doing the 'right answer' because someone else told you to. u just gotta follow ur gut
for me, the problem is that game design is 'rules'. when i make something, i'm not considering 'rules', i'm considering how i feel about it, and i try to push it in a direction i like. it only becomes 'game design' when someone else tries to apply top-down, dogmatic boundaries to it after the fact
saying this as someone who loves doing gamedev: it objectively sucks ass to do gamedev. people just enjoy doing hard and annoying things sometimes for no good reason! embrace it, thats what like 90% of all art is lol
obviously only do what youre comfortable with, but imo you shouldnt let minor concerns stop you from doing something cool and fun that lets you meet interesting members of your community (:
also, the kind of people to use chatgpt are honestly weirdly proud about it??? and if youre worried about cringe/weird translation you can always use google translate just as a rough check to see that the meaning matches at least surface level
all very fair concerns, but i know a guy who likes to contribute hungarian translations whenever the opportunity arises. its fun to contribute to a community, people only do it if they want to! theyve got nothing to gain, so i dont think anyone will feel pressured at all
please stay ignorant for your own sake
well now you leave me no choice

Another new game! This one's a broughlike-- the mechanics are pretty simple, but I think there's some good room for strategy!
