Basically: what do fiscal justice and restrictions on online betting have to do with how we deal with the war on Iran and Lebanon?

Rather than wondering if Trump can stop himself or if Netanyahu will be less of a coloniser, we need to put non-aligned diplomacy to work on collective divestment politics and clear targets for fiscal justice. It's odd how we denounce the international disorder but still hope the old tools succeed.

We're also talking about fiscal policy. Really taxing the rich, doing so in well-established alliances, can go a long way beyond raising money for important social and climate policies. It's also about taking some capital out of the hands of the rich who use it to create more harm and catastrophe.

So, the rest of the world that is watching in absolute shock needs to get it together and work on proper divestment policies. A lot of Global South capital is going towards this, fuelling this system even if there's no direct political support for these actors. We're talking bonds, titles, funds.

As much as it is important for us to analyse the energy implications of all of this, we need to face the reality that a lot of these decisions are taken in the context of online betting, stock market rigging and the disaster economy. Those bankrolling on this care nothing about rights and treaties.
