Rubio quietly gutted decades of administrative law by claiming that all immigration policy is "a foreign affairs function" and so Americans will not get to comment on any of the mass deportation and anti-legal immigration actions of this administration.

if you work at OSHA or the Department of Labor and wanna share a tip about what’s happening with a friendly labor reporter, I will protect your privacy and am ALL ears

Yes, this administration is dangerous and cruel, but they are also shockingly dim and incompetent.
Opportunities are everywhere.
Make everything as hard as possible. Resist every demand. Refuse entry without a warrant. Don’t take the buyout. Their problem solving skills are 📉
If you're in Illinois, you're on Section 8, and your landlord tries to evict you because of the government funding freeze, email me at sheryl@weikallaw.com. My cases are pay-whatever-you-can.
Elon Musk bought Twitter for $44 billion a few years ago and now it's worth roughly 25% of what he paid for it after he fired a bunch of people, drove a bunch of users and advertisers away by boosting conspiracy theories and Nazis...so that's obviously a great model for how to run the US gov't!
People are scared. Rumors are flying around. But I beg of people to try to get some confirmation first before acting.
I love the opening theme
Nate Silver: "Thinking ChatGPT is useless is midwit. It's a magic box that answers any question you ask it from levels ranging from modestly coherent to extremely proficient. If you haven't bothered to figure it out to derive some utility out of it then you're just being lazy tbh."
i can see how you would come to this conclusion if your job didn't require you to ever be correct
I'm mulling over this today. We need to thread the needle between warning people and not spreading propaganda, and self-regulating our own panic and outrage will be key.
Actionable information is the most useful, but not all information is actionable. How do we (de-) prioritize the rest?
Never forget that every single public statement they make about enforcement is to terrify immigrant communities, and that they are counting on us to amplify the message
Done
I don't disagree but it's also important to not "abandon the field" prematurely. Courts are one area of battle but not the ONLY area.
The president is not a king. Make them actually enforce this. Force them to actually have to do the work instead of using fear and intimidation. Do not follow unjust and immoral laws
Be ungovernable. We will outlast and outlive these bastards.
Who gave $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund?
-Each of the 5 biggest tech firms
-The CEOs of Uber & OpenAI
-Auto giants Toyota, Ford, & GM
-Drugmaker behemoth Pfizer
Corporate America is desperate to kiss the ring.
There's nothing they won’t do for a tax break.
Fight like hell.
4. New travel bans under Section 212(f) of the INA. We expect at minimum a renewed version of the "Muslim Ban" travel ban that passed SCOTUS muster. My questions are:
- Does it begin immediately?
- Which countries?
- Which visas will be blocked?
- What other 212(f) bans will go into effect?
What to expect from Trump's Day 1 immigration agenda:
1) cancel the CHNV parole processes which have channeled 30,000 people/month into legal channels
2) ban scheduling appointments for lawful entry from Mexico using the CBPOne app
Sigh. Can’t win.
I think it’s cool that the right and left in this country are united in the belief that it’s fine to boil the planet’s oceans in order to make memes that aren’t funny.
If you've never donated to Wikipedia, now's the time. Elon Musk is attacking it because it's one of the only sources of honest, curated information that he can't control.

Return-to-office (RTO) mandates lead to abnormally high employee turnover, especially for female/more senior/more skilled employees.
It also takes significantly longer to fill these job vacancies after RTO mandates.

“Immigration 101” on chalkboard
“One misconception about undocumented immigration is that obtaining legal papers is as simple as, say, changing your address at the post office, and that immigrants remain undocumented due to a lack of trying. But nothing could be further from the truth.” americasvoice.org/blog/immigra...
One of the few times this is true lol
Such a populist that Trump is. Always looking out for the little guy.
There was a very positive development today. The Biden administration finalized a rule that automatically extends work permits 540 days when you file a renewal application. It'd be good if we didn't need this, but with delays as they are, it will ensure people don't lose jobs due to USCIS delay.
Not just unconscionable and un-American, also wildly illegal, wildly unconstitutional, and wildly ignorant of how deportation actually works.
As always, when we assess these remarks, remember that Donald Trump has virtually no clue how anything works, and the media doesn’t push him on detail.
