I used to follow that rule, but it only gives you about four weeks of Christmas decor, & when you love to go all out, it makes it not worth the effort. Also, other countries start on Nov 1 since they don't celebrate Thanksgiving. I say go for it! (although I long for an extended Fall - cries in TX)
