Literally every time I see the name I think of it as multiple people named John with the last name Hopkins
In the Woods! And if you like that one, read the rest of the Dublin Murder Squad series in order
Pavel, a small tabby cat, sits in his Yelling Spot
He has a daily ritual where he likes to sit in the doorway directly behind me while I work, and just... yell. I have tried to fulfill every possible demand he might be making, and have been left to conclude that he simply Likes to Yell.
"Hey, you're being really annoying" I say to my cat in a calm, stern voice as if he A) can understand me and B) would give a shit
hell yeah
the times says that being hot is a millennial trait
idk if I have another round of "yes, really, rape is a bigger deal than some guy's career" discourse in me, you guys
(Yes I know that a maniacal insistence on moving ever-forward/ never stopping to reckon w/ the past is so baked into this country's cultural identity that any real consequences for the architects of our current nightmare are a mere pipe dream, but imagining Nuremberg-style comeuppance helps me cope)
This pestilent fuck needs to be in the first round of Nuremberg II for sure
Contrary to public perception a huge % of pregnant teenagers in the 1990s were impregnated by adult men. The younger they were, the larger the average age gap between mother and father was. Fixing teen pregnancy was in part a clampdown on statutory rape. That's what conservatives want to reverse.
FYI if you use AI to write emails to authors, they'll be indistinguishable from the slop scams we're all getting on a daily basis (and just in general... if you use AI to write me an email I will treat it as I treat all AI—feel a moment of contempt and then ignore it)
MOST EARNED IT

the lesson from today’s downtime isn’t that it was caused by vibe coding (bluesky went down all the time before Claude too), it’s that if you use AI you will no longer get the benefit of the doubt and everyone will mock you for laziness regardless of the cause
Worker-run projects are the future of media for sure!!!
Oh hell yeah—congrats!!

Oat milk is the way and the light
A digitally drawn recreation of a chalkboard gag from The Simpsons opening credits. Bart is being held after school and forced to repeatedly write ‘Maybe it will happen today’ on the chalkboard.
I found one stone one time, which unfortunately has been enough to make me check diligently every time since (and probably forever)
There have always been hacks, there will always be hacks. Doesn't mean the rest of us have to adopt their hacky ways!
lying about it happening on april fool's day: mean-spirited, hurtful, not funny at all
it actually happening on april fool's day: possibly the funniest thing of all time
And teeth! I really think the distribution timeline for new sets of teeth could use some adjustment
This batch of Dem presidential hopefuls went bad in the crisper drawer, can we toss it and get a new one?
I just did this, it took two minutes!
"the good news is that we have found a relatively cheap and easy way to prevent the cast from going through puberty. the bad news is that not everybody in this room is going to like it".
“But it reminds me of my childhood!” …ok? Maybe it’s time to grow the fuck up
Idk man I just think *not watching a show* is maybe the easiest moral action you could possibly ask of someone? If that’s too big an ask for you, please look in the mirror and ask some hard questions about what kind of person you want to be/what’s the point of humanity and society
Stop worrying about what YA books to let your kids read and let them sort it out with V C Andrews and cocaine era Stephen King as God intended
["Bodies" (Drowning Pool, 2001) starts blasting at a painful volume, seemingly from every direction at once]
