Congrats on your nomination!
I'm so sorry for your loss, that's so brutal. I'm glad you were able to find a little comfort overseas. Sending you my condolences and support.
That isn't a description I've heard before, and feels too joyful even if cleaning up glitter is a massive pain, but I appreciate the visual of the metaphor and share my condolences for your loss. Years out from first losing my mom, and the grief still can overwhelm in waves.
I hope they have the best life together โค๏ธ
That tail says it all.
I don't believe MoCo has any, I have dug around looking
I'm giving the opening keynote at the American Mosquito Control Association meeting on Tuesday & am conducting a VERY unscientific poll. Do you know, off the top of your head, if your town/county does mosquito and/or tick surveillance and management?
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear this. I think of Rosie so fondly! Sending you sympathy and support, and hoping there is a way to keep her as comfortable as possible until you must say goodbye.
It's still a banger
We read it for our local book club last year, and it was really great for provoking discussion as it raises so many interesting questions!
Our rescues were both abandoned for various reasons we can guess at, but they are the sweetest and cutest bully buddies. Play hard, cuddle hard is their motto. The 65 lb lap dogs we didn't know we needed, who also love a space heater. โค๏ธ
Two rikers mounts of hornets from Guam (greater banded hornet) and WA (northern giant hornet)
Very excited to receive another box of hornets today for our @entsocamerica.bsky.social Hill advocacy next week to generate support & funding to eradicate greater banded hornet from Guam. "We don't want these in CA or FL, do you?" is effective. Huge thanks to the Chris Looney & Chris Rosario!
Times are challenging, but I love how the Olympics bring us together. I'm for Team USA, but also for all the athletes who trained, sacrificed, & persevered to get to Milan. Wishing all a wonderful experience, and thank you all for sharing your talent & passion with us. Grazie, Italia.
To be fair, I can't think of any members of Congress who can get away with the level of whimsy she brings in some ways (not to be confused with the lunatic fringe)
I'm pretending Seth Rogen won for Platonic instead of The Studio because they are both great, but I think Platonic is better.

I almost choked laughing at the line about how, because you don't put much on your calendar, AI decided you find purpose in changing the HVAC and going to the dentist. ๐คฃ Thank you though, it was a very interesting read and uplifting during a dark week.
Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2026. Remembering those we lost this year. Good night and joy be to you all.

Happy birthday! ๐๐๐ฆ
Sunset with a beam of light seemingly shooting up into the heavens.
I thought someone opened the Ark of the Covenant at an undisclosed warehouse downtown when I was heading home on the metro.
Movie youโve watched more than six times with a gif. Hard mode: no Stars (Wars nor Trek), LOTR, or Marvel, Disney Animated or Pixar.
Maybe, but I'm here for it. Andrew and I are discussing this. I'm a fan of Emerald Fennell and anything that brings new fans to explore the classics. Especially since the kids aren't reading anymore? Baz Luhrmann and Joe Wright are two other directors that come to mind. I'm amped to see it.
That is a fun fact, thank you.
Top tier entertainment. Might have to watch it for the umpteenth time next after subjecting @wifeguy.org to Sense & Sensibility in preparation for tomorrow's book club. Enjoy!
Thank you for bringing attention to this. Flagging for you that another scientist @jenna-m-norton.bsky.social has also been placed on leave for speaking out at NIH

Last night was my first Rainbow Mixer, and I had an incredible time. Hats off to the organizers and performers for a creative, funny, and all-around wonderful insect cabaret! #EntSoc25
