Cemetery – Bernard Davis Books

There’s a new short story up on my website. This one was published in the Lancashire Evening Post recently.
Please take a look it’s only 1100 words, shouldn’t take long to read.
All comments welcome.

Was volunteering at the @thelowtherpavilion.bsky.social last night during the sellout Milton Jones show, I ended up having to go out in the pouring rain and see off some idiot who was fishing in the pond in our gardens.
Not a casual fisher, he’d a rod, landing net and the full kit.
Cheeky bugger.

Just heard that tomorrow's edition of the Lancashire Evening Post will contain my short story 'Cemetary'.
Excited and wondering where I can actually buy a copy.

Just heard that our Classically Lowther event on 24th March will be the very first event held in our brand new theatre @thelowtherpavilion.bsky.social.
Plus the theatre has been donated a Steinway model V piano. Things are looking great.

creative Writing Group meet-up this am. Got a couple of shorts to share. I might put them up on the web-site later, if anybody's interested.

Thanks for the comment. The Elf Knight is a pan European myth. There's an excellent song on Youtube by Steel Eye Span telling the story. I just took the character and wrote the poem, (which doesn't follow the story at all).
Changed the line to read 'Unmoved by beast or storm or gale.'
Good catch.👍

I'm Bernard, currently working on a mess of a horror/detective story that's going all over the place and looks like it's going to get spiked (by me).

Let’s gear up for the fight against creationism in schools (Dover Part 2) except stupider and potentially without a rule in the favor of science!

I read that as ‘One cannot create entire words…’ and I think that works just as well. 😃

Writing Tips – Bernard Davis Books

Hi, basically the best advice you’ll get is, write it all down you can sort it out later. I’ve put a few tips on my website here: castlecs.co.uk/writing-tips

Welcome to the good place, it’s growing and it’s blue. 😀

My book, I still haven't decided on a title yet, is a satire on the publishing industry. The need to come up with the 'next new thing' regardless of how ridiculous and meaningless that is. It's complete, but I'm still editing (a never ending task).

Tell yourself, you need to finish before you begin. Editing is where the real work lies.

Remember there is more than one country. Most of them are free and not necessarily being taken in with the AI nonsense.

Woke up a bit later this morning, so nothing done yet. Got a music lesson at 10:00, so hope I can write something after lunch.
By 6:30am yesterday I'd written 1,000 words, so that's a target to aim for at least. Discipline, that's what I need.

With everything so seemingly terrible these days & no sign of anything remotely hopeful in the near future, I thought you might need this photo of a baby giraffe.

It's been 6 months since I joined the gym and no progress.

Tomorrow I'm going there in person to see what's really going on.
